Virgin Atlantic has launched a new award sale that’s giving a 20% discount on its lowest priced economy awards to and/or from the UK. That means you can book one way flights from only 4,800 points plus taxes and fees, although flights during peak summer will be more expensive than that.

Quick Thoughts
Virgin Atlantic already offers an unbeatable low award price on economy flights to/from the UK as one way flights can be booked from only 6,000 points. This award sale is giving an additional 20% off the points requirement, dropping the pricing to only 4,800 points. Taxes/fees to the UK are only ~$75, so that’s a superb deal. Due to the UK’s Air Passenger Duty tax, taxes/fees in the return direction are closer to $300.
That off-peak pricing is only available for flights in September, but it is plentiful as every single day that month has tickets available for 4,800 points on the New York JFK-Heathrow route.
Peak pricing is ordinarily 12,000 points one way, so with this award sale that price has dropped to 9,600 points. Availability on peak dates is excellent too, with every single day in July and August having tickets available for 9,600 points one way on that same New York JFK-Heathrow route.
There’s currently a 25% transfer bonus from Chase to Virgin Atlantic, so that would mean you’d only have to transfer 4,000 points for a one way ticket at the 4,800 points level or 8,000 points for one ticket at the 9,600 level.
Don’t forget that you can easily see award availability at a glance courtesy of Virgin’s Reward Seat Checker. Note that the discount is only for economy flights – premium economy and Upper Class (business class) tickets are excluded.

Maybe mention it’s 216 GBP in tax on a one-way before people get too excited
