A Walmart+ subscription comes with a whole host of ancillary benefits. One of the benefits added a few years ago is a free, ad-supported Paramount+ subscription.
Walmart announced this week that another streaming service will be added from September 15: Peacock Premium.
This is going to be an either/or proposition rather than both/and because subscribers will only be able to choose one of those two streaming services at no additional cost. You can change your mind though; every 90 days you can switch your complimentary service from one to the other.
I’ve appreciated having Paramount+ as that’s the service that has the US streaming rights to Champions League and Europa League soccer, as well as the Carabao Cup in the UK. The Digital Entertainment Credit on Amex Platinum consumer cards covers up to $20 per month of select streaming services which includes Peacock, so I’ll likely keep things as they are for now, but it’s great to have additional choice.
As a reminder, a monthly Walmart+ subscription is a benefit on the Amex Platinum consumer card and on the Amex Business Gold card. If you’re interested in both streaming services and have an Amex Platinum, you can do the same as me by using the Digital Entertainment Credit for Peacock and Walmart+ for Paramount+. If you don’t have an Amex Platinum but do have a Business Gold card, it’s nice that from September 15 you’ll have an additional option for obtaining an ad-supported Peacock plan at no additional cost.

I paid ~ $17 for a year of Peacock using their annual promotion and Chase offers. Combines nicely with Paramount+ for European & English Football coverage. But you still need to get USA Network for many of the big EPL games, I begrudgingly use Sling for this.
I’m not convinced that getting an ad-support plan for free is much of a deal. Fortunately with the Amex streaming credit you can get the ad-free version of Peacock.
Often there’s a Walmart+ offer to upgrade to the ad-free version for free. It comes on Prime days, sorry, Walmart weeks all the time. I had ad supported version for maybe 3 months out of the last 2 years.
Oh thanks. That’s a great tip! I have a life threatening allergy to ads, so if Amex changes their streaming credit it is nice to have that as a backup.
It’s a fantastic deal for fans of top-flight football such as Serie A and UEFA Champions League since real football only has ads during halftime, which one uses for snack and toilet breaks anyway.
Ah, yeah, I don’t watch sports so I always forget about that. I can see how this would be a really good deal for sports.
Guess those of us with multiple ABGs can now spin up multiple walmart accounts for this.
Either way, Peacock is free with Instacart+, and I’m sure many people here have that from the various Chase cards.
