World of Hyatt launched a new promotion this past week which is giving double points when staying at their Hyatt Place and Hyatt House brands.
The Deal
- Earn 2x points on stays at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House.
- Direct link to registration.
Key Terms

To join World of Hyatt and to register for the promotion, visit hyatt.com/doublepoints. Only Eligible Stays completed after registration and between July 9, 2024 and October 15, 2024 (“Promotion Period”) will count towards this promotion. All Eligible Stays must be completed by October 15, 2024.

- A maximum of 25,000 Bonus Points may be earned under this promotion.
- For a property to be participating in the promotion, it needs to be participating in World of Hyatt at the time of the member’s stay.
- All points awarded under this promotion are Bonus Points. You will receive five (5) Bonus Points per eligible dollar spent on your Eligible Stay. This is in addition to the five (5) Base Points you would earn as your base earning.
- If a member chooses to earn Bonus Miles, the bonus will be awarded in World of Hyatt Bonus Points.
- For the purpose of this promotion, an “Eligible Stay” is defined as any stay where a member is paying an Eligible Rate or redeems a free night award.
- For purposes of this promotion, consecutive nights at the same hotel constitute one stay (even if you check out and check back in).
- Only the room occupied by the member will count toward this promotion.
- You must provide your World of Hyatt membership number at the time of check-in for each stay.
- Please allow two to three weeks after checkout for Bonus Points to be posted to your World of Hyatt account.
Quick Thoughts
You earn 5 base points per dollar on the room rate (but not taxes/fees) as standard, so this promotion means you’ll earn a total of 10 points per dollar. If you have status with Hyatt, you’ll also earn 10%, 20% or 30% bonus points depending on if you have Discoverist, Explorist or Globalist status respectively. However, those additional bonuses are only award on the base points, not on the bonus points from this 2x promo too.
There are currently targeted Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Chase Offers on some people’s Chase cards, so those spending offers will stack with this World of Hyatt promotion to help you save money while also earning bonus points.
Note that you have to register for the promotion by September 15, but it’s valid on stays through October 15.
A free night award would be a stay booked with points or a free night certificate. You therefore wouldn’t earn any bonus points on that part as there’s $0 spent to be doubled, but room charges (e.g. meals, parking, etc.) would be doubled.
So if my calculations are correct:
5x WoH member
5x for this promotion
1.5x for Globalist status
4x for using a Hyatt credit card
This adds up to 15.5x per dollar spent. There is also a current promotion on Chase World of Hyatt cards for 10% off on up to $400 spend, in addition to the 2k bonus many of us qualified for at 20 or 30 night milestone rewards. So if one spends exactly $400 one would receive 8200 points and a $40 rebate. If Hyatt points are worth 1.7 cents (as Frequent Miler asserts) this would amount to a 45% rebate on a paid stay, and get one 2-3 more elite nights. Not bad.
So does this calculation change if I’m using points for my stay?
And is it better to stay at the same property for 5 nights or switch to a different hotel every night for 5 nights?
If you’re using points for your stay, you won’t be earning double points on anything other than any charges to your room (e.g. food, spa, etc.). There’s therefore no need to change hotels at all unless you’d simply like to visit other hotels. Even if it was a regular paid stay, there’d be no need to change hotels to earn the bonus points.
Can I stack my milestone reward for 2000 bonus points with this promotion?
It should work, yes. It won’t double the 2000 “Next Stay” points to 4000, but both promotions should work on the same stay. That’s how it worked for me on a double points rate earlier this year.
Yes, the 2K and the promo were credited for me this past week
