Quick Thoughts
If you’re just looking for an individual restaurant gift card, chances are good that you can get a better discount than 10% if you’re willing to buy secondhand cards through the many gift card resale sites. On the other hand, I don’t typically give resale gift cards as gifts. I like the flexibility of the Happy cards for those situations where I just need a gift card to toss in a card.
That said, you’d have to weigh these discounts against regular fuel point promotions in most places. This isn’t a smoking deal, but it may be worthwhile for some readers.
H/T: Miles to Memories
Beware: these are NOT gift cards. They are fixed value credit cards that are difficult to fully drain as they don’t auto-drain like typical gift cards If your purchase amount is more than the balance of the Happy card, the transaction will fail. I suspect they are making a killing on these cards due to significant breakage.
I’ve had good luck having these cards auto-drain at Burger King and Panera. I used a Happy Card at BB&B and had to tell the cashier how much was left on the card to drain it.
You can get some of the individual gift cards for 20-30% off at Costco. I think the Texas De Brazil is $69.99 for $100 in gift cards.
In addition to the 10% off, the RebatesMe shopping portal is offering 5% cash back on Happy Cards.
