There is a new card-linked offer out for Bloomingdale’s that could be good for up to $83 cash back. Depending on the version you’ve received, it may be available on numerous cards in your wallet. This would stack nicely with portal rewards or it could potentially even be useful for gift card resale.
The Deal
- There is a new card-linked offer out on select Chase, Bank of America, and U.S. Bank cards that’s good for either 15% back (up to $62) or 20% back (up to $83) at Bloomingdale’s online or in-store (check your offer for details)
Key Terms
- Expires 11/14/23
- Payment must be made on or before offer expiration date (keep in mind that your order might not be charged until it ships, so use this at least a few days in advance of expiration)
Quick Thoughts
My wife and I had either the 15% or 20% back version on almost every Chase card in our household. While I didn’t find this offer on our Bank of America or U.S. Bank cards, there is frequently enough overlap that it is worth checking your cards from other banks.
One of the beauties of this offer is the chance to stack with a shopping portal. I currently see rates as high as 10% cash back or 10 Delta SkyMiles per dollar spent, but check here for rates when you’re ready to shop. Don’t forget to also check your Capital One Shopping account as I’ve been seeing targeted offers heat up once again in my account.
Alternatively, you may find this deal profitable for resale of gift cards depending on your resale outlets., though YMMV. Portal cash back probably won’t track on a gift card purchase (though it’s always worth clicking through just in case). However, if you don’t want to buy something right now, buying a gift card might be a good way to lock in the discount and then use your gift card to purchase Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals (for example).
As a shopper, this deal could be particularly useful for items with standardized prices across sites. For instance, if you’re in the market for a Briggs & Riley or Tumi backpack or small carry-on, this offer could potentially work out really well. They also sell Xbox and Playstation systems among many other types of products with relatively standardized prices.
For instance, I recently got the same Tumi backpack as Greg (I got mine by redeeming rewards points from an online sportsbook), but it seems a bit small for me (I haven’t even fully unwrapped it because I could see that at a quick glance). I’ve been thinking that I might try to sell it and buy the Briggs & Riley @Work Large Cargo backpack instead. Bloomingdale’s has that bag for $379. After 10% from a shopping portal and 20% from the Chase Offer, my net cost would be about $265 (plus tax on the $379). That might create enough room to sell my Tumi bag and get enough to cover the Briggs & Riley. I’ll probably hold off and see if I can get an even better targeted Capital One Shopping offer, but I’m certainly going to consider using one of my offers this way.
Overall, this is a great card-linked offer that you may be able to sync over lots of cards.
Here’s an excellent travel backpack fyi https://a.co/d/6QbXEXX
Anyone knows if this is for a single purchase or total purchases upto $83 back?
More importantly are the 10% offers at Zazzle.com, where you can get that awesome FM swag!
Curious, Why you want Briggs & Riley over Tumi luggage?
It’s just a size thing. I actually prefer several things about the Tumi bags, but the short story is that I had enough rewards to redeem for the Tumi Alpha Bravo Navigation, but not enough rewards to get the one I really wanted (The Tumi Brief Pack). I was in a situation where I thought I might have to use the rewards immediately or lose them, so I didn’t have time to accumulate enough for the Brief Pack. I thought that maybe I could deal with the slightly smaller size of the Tumi Navigation bag, but then it arrived and I just immediately knew that it wasn’t going to work for me size-wise. I tend to treat my backpack like a laptop bag / carry-on hybrid — I like to keep a range of stuff I might need in my backpack. The Navigation is basically just a laptop bag — I couldn’t, for example, bring my electronics *and* much in the way of clothes. I’ve usually got headphones (mine and usually a set for my wife and/or kids), my microphone stuff for the podcast, my toiletry bag, etc. I currently have an older version of the Brief Pack and I love it, but the straps are starting to fray a bit and mine doesn’t have the thing to slide over a carry-on.
Anyway, the Briggs & Riley @Work Large is more like the size of the Tumi Brief Pack and I’m thinking that maybe I can sell the Navigation bag for enough to not have to go out of pocket to buy it (in other words, maybe I can sell the Navigation bag and get the ~$300 I’d need to cover the Briggs & Riley bag), whereas if I sell the Navigation bag for $300, even after stacking 10% back from a portal and $83 back from the Chase Offer, I’d still have to spend $200+ to get the Tumi bag. There are several things I don’t really like about the Briggs & Riley bag, but I don’t think I dislike any of them enough to pay $200 more for the Tumi.
People also say that Briggs & Riley is better about warranty claims. I don’t know whether that’s true, but I guess it also has that going for it. Mostly it’s about the size though. On our 40K to Far Away and 3 Cards 3 Continents trips, I packed everything I needed for more than a week (including clothes *and* electronics) in my backpack. That just seems more functional for my needs. I also wasn’t impressed with the quality of the zippers on the Navigation bag — they aren’t nearly as heavy-duty as my old brief pack.
Thanks, I am purchasing luggage for my children and was interested in your insight since I use Tumi and love it. Thanks for the always thoughtful perspective.
Out of curiosity, what do you potentially dislike about the B&R?
I have both bags, fyi. Tumi Brief Pack was my go-to for a while, but then I bought a monstrosity of a laptop (Alienware x17 R2) that wouldn’t fit into anything, so I bought the B&R for an international trip.
As for me, I like both. The Tumi does feel a bit more rugged, but B&R looks cleaner, so it seems a little more professional. But if your main goal is to carry stuff, the B&R does actually hold a lot more, including ginormous laptops that won’t fit in the Tumi.
Does bloomingdale have gift card rack in store? Thinking about buy third party gcs like amazon.
You know, I’m not sure that I’ve ever actually been inside a physical Bloomingdale’s store, so I don’t know.
I made a few calls and they dont have third party gc in store. I guess for gc purchase, the best way is to buy egc online.
sign up for email with gmail email trick and get another 15% off. There are restrictions on brands etc but may still work for what you want to buy.
If I go use Paypal for the 5x Freedom offer will I also still get the 20% Chase offer? Or do chase offers not work for paypal transactions?
Terms certainly suggest that it might not work, but I’m not positive whether it does in practice.
