Update 8/29/20: Comments over at Doctor of Credit suggest that this promo code is working a second time for some people, although that might be YMMV considering the problems some people had using it when the promotion started.
~
DoorDash is offering $15 off $15 on a “convenience” order for those with DashPass via coupon code ESSENTIALS20 in the latest installment of the Summer of DashPass promotion. This one says it is valid for pick up only, but we’ve had reports from some readers only able to use it for delivery. YMMV.
Oddly, I saw a different promotion advertised when I clicked through to the promotion page this morning, but members of our Frequent Miler Insiders group have successfully used ESSENTIALS20 to save $15, so I can confirm it is working.

Quick Thoughts
Last week’s promotion that was good for $20 off of $20+ got pulled only a day or two into validity, so don’t count on this one lasting all week. Still, this one is less widely-applicable given that it needs to be used at convenience locations. That presumably means orders from convenience stores like 7-11 or Wawa or perhaps pharmacies like Walgreens. There are no eligible locations around me, but some members of our Facebook group have been able to use it.
DashPass is required for these Summer of DashPass promos, though many readers likely have DashPass courtesy of the Chase Sapphire Reserve card or Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Keep in mind that even Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, and Slate cardholders can activate a free 3-month subscription (though note that it will be set to auto-renew for the next 9 months at 50% off if you do not cancel). See this post for more detail.
As noted at the top, I (oddly) saw another promotion when I cliceked through to the Summer of DashPass landing page first thing this morning. The promotion I saw was for Swiss Chalet — a Canadian chain that (according to Wikipedia) closed its last couple of US locations about 10 years ago.
However, when I click through now I see the convenience offer. I guess maybe my IP address had me mis-located for a bit? (Though I did consider this and checked to be sure that the URL clearly indicated the country as US).
At any rate, if you have locations near you, this is fifteen bucks in free stuff — but it looks like you need to pick it up.

[…] Update 8/29/20: Working for a second time for some people. Hat tip to FM […]
Just worked fine for me, Meijer grocery was an option here. ~$13 worth of groceries (before inflated prices) for ~$5 (after delivery tip) is not too bad.
Used it three times in our house today. All delivery orders. We filtered for convenience stores and 4 came up. One is actually a small grocery so we snagged some pantry staples. The promo spot was pre-populated with another offer and we had to switch them out. It’s on the page BEFORE the last checkout page.
Just got it to work at 7-11. Added $15 worth of coffee and used delivery. It has to be a convenience store. If you just try to use it at a restaurant it will say offer expired. It isnt really true. It should say the business does not qualify. Keyword is conveneience stores.
After taxes/fees/tip, the total order came out to a price slightly higher than if I’d just gone to the grocery store and paid a fair price for it. I’m not particularly in the mood for frozen pizza and ice cream anyway so I passed. Others might have better selection in their neighborhood though.
2:45PM CDT, no place to enter the discount code, only default to a $3.76 discount. is the game over?
Just tried to use this and it tells me it’s expired. I’m so not impressed with DoorDash, I won’t be using them any more. Even free DaahPass can’t make up for their poor service (customer service, expiring promos, incorrect charges)
Anne,
You won’t be using them again because basically a free 15 buck deal expired early! I lost out on the 20 off deal last week but it was virtually a free lunch/dinner; hardly anything to complain about! And there is a promo virtually every week to the extent that I am almost like: please stop these promos so I can be on my diet.
American consumers are next level entitled!
Sorry, but I have to agree with Anne. Every time I’ve tried to use a promo code it hasn’t worked. The last time I placed an order & it went through. Two minutes before it was supposed to be delivered the order was cancelled. When I contacted customer service I was told not to worry, that my credit card had been reimbursed. The problem was, I had no dinner after waiting over an hour for a delivery that never came.
Rohit, it is called pulling the rug out from under your customers. Send out an offer for all your best customers, say it is valid for a whole week, then pull the offer after only a day or two. Anne has every reason to be upset at DoorDash here. You know the subscription costs $10 per month, so it’s not like it’s free, don’t you?
Late to reply but have to respond to this. I mentioned several reasons why I don’t want to use them so here we go into a longer explanation to prove to someone who is throwing a fit why I’m not throwing a fit.
A huge part of it is the incorrect charges. I check out with a promo and it says it apllies. Then the charge hits my credit card and it’s full price. I have to contact their poor customer service for a credit. Not a refund because trying to get one was like pulling teeth without numbing you up. This happened 4 times to me and I had to be the one to catch it otherwise they would have kept my money. And the first two credits weren’t applied correctly (only $5 instead of the $15 it should have been) , so I had to contact them again, only to be told I had to talk to a superviser, who never called me. So I had to call again. So yeah, them ending promos early (which didn’t state it in the terms I read) just puts the final straw in my usage of them, which by the way I’ve only used them 11 times and most each one had issues, promos or no promos. And no it wasn’t the delivery people, those people were great for the most part.
