Quick Thoughts
Some of these rates are excellent and make for fantastic opportunities to stack with Amex Offers, Chase Offers, ongoing credit card benefits, etc. If you’ve been holding on to a Saks credit or Dell credit, today could be a great day to make a purchase.
Be sure to compare against other portals as many are surely offering increased rates for today and over the weekend. In fact, just minutes ago, I got a targeted Capital One Shopping offer via email for 24% back at Macy’s, 21% back at Old Navy, 18% back at LL Bean, 24% back at Mattress Firm, and more. It’s worth keeping an eye out!
Also watch out for gimmicky sales. Saks always runs what I think is the most misleading sale of the year for Black Friday — they advertise it as spend $150, get a $75 gift card — but it’s really a $75 coupon. I don’t know how they get away with calling it a gift card. The $75 coupon won’t come to your email until December 10th (more than 2 weeks from now!) and then it will only be valid for about 2 weeks. A gift card is a store of value….a discount that is only available for a specific 2 week window in the future is a coupon. You’re welcome, Saks marketing department. /rant
To be clear, that’s not to say that the Saks offer is a bad offer if you would already be purchasing from Saks. Just be sure to go into deals like that with your eyes open.
I have a fair number of 20X stores. Dad gum.
Saks showing 16% for me now.
