This morning I posted several topics all together. One of the topics was about the possibility of earning 70 points per dollar at magazines.com when shopping through the Ultimate Rewards Mall. Here is what I wrote:
A reader who goes by the name “LoveToFly” posted in Milepoint that he successfully double dipped with Magazines.com through the Ultimate Rewards Mall. Read the post here for more information. He got full credit (35 points per dollar) for the purchase of a gift card, but only half credit for the purchase using the gift card. Still, he made out with over 50 points per dollar! I plan to try this myself and hope to figure out how to eek out the full 70 points per dollar here. I noticed that they sell books in addition to magazines so I think there are some great gift opportunities here. Imagine buying someone a $75 gift and getting over 5000 points in return! That would be awesome!
If you’re interested in trying this, please note the terms and conditions:
Magazine subscriptions that are automatically renewed are not eligible. Not eligible on the purchase of books.
Notice the “not eligible on the purchase of books” part. I didn’t notice that and I ordered a few books! My advice if you try this double dip is to look for a 1 year non renewing magazine subscription. Good luck!
Tip of the hat to arkleseizure over at Milepoint.
do you know for sure that the purchase of the gift cards will earn the 35x points?
Kathy K: Yes, Magazines.com is listed under “gift cards” in the Ultimate Rewards shopping mall. Unlike other rewards malls, I’ve found Ultimate Rewards to be very reliable.
I see you were already thinking the same way! I am already loaded on B&N Nooks Touches for the season, Target had a sale after coupons and a gift card back a few weeks ago where they were $58 each, and $49 for those with a Target card (another 5% off on top plus free ship). It was too good to pass up at those prices, so they are now under the tree!
Steelsnow: Awesome prices for the Nook Touch! Nicely done.
Curses, foiled again!
Do you know if B&N carries any gift cards in store for other stores? I can say with some certainty that they probably don’t have Amazon cards…
SteelSnow: I searched up and down and all around the local B&N, but found not a single gift card for a different store.
