Starting on Sunday, Staples is running a promotion (page 10) offering a $20 prepaid Visa card via rebate with the purchase of $300 or more in Visa gift cards. This deal is very similar to other offers they have run in the past.
The Deal
From 5/24/15 to 5/30/15 you can receive a $20 Visa gift card via Easy Rebate with the purchase of $300 or more in Visa gift cards.
Generally with these deals it is best to use a Chase Ink card to earn 5X Ultimate Rewards points or an Amex SimplyCash card to earn 5% cash back at Staples.
Key Terms
- Limit 1 per household
- Available in-store only

Last month I did this and got a Staples gift card in the mail instead of a VGC. Bummer
That promo was for a staples gift card and not a visa gift card rebate… that’s why you got what you got.

Do you know if you can use a Staples Gift Card to buy these Visa Gift Cards?
No can’t use staples gift cards
My local Kroegers doen’t sell Money orders.. any suggestions on who will take visa gift cards for MO?
Most gas stations also sells MO for $1 each. I have tried few times and it works.
Juno just a heads up because O found the hard way. 1 reward per household also means email address and telephone numbers. If your going to use your sisters address and your parents make sure none of the email and phone number are alike. I got denied because of that. Good luck
Agree, I’m pretty sure that I had different info set up and got denied. I’ll check the info again, but I would also space out the rebate redemption.
Well, still a good haul overall besides the fee.
Can I load my Target prepaid Red Card with this visa prepaid card?
Yes.
Can I load my Target prepaid card with this visa prepaid?
Woo hoo!! I’ll be getting 3 sets of $200. My address, my sister’s address, and my parent’s address. I am fortunate enough to see them frequently enough where i can get my hand on those rebate cards easily when they are mailed.
@5280 Miles. I haven’t had any success getting online portal bonuses.(tried with Chase UR portal, United and American shopping portals) They almost always exclude gift cards inclding VGCs.
Can you get the rebate online? I would like to take advantage of the United portal offer for spending bonus but would want to get the rebate. Thanks in advance.
Every little helps. Thanks for a heads-up
is it possible to purchase these gift cards either on line or in store with amex gift cards?
In my experience no. I don’t believe the Staples registers in-store are hard coded against it, but the cashiers are trained to check your card and id. If you have personalized cards then you may have a chance, but I wouldn’t count on it since they still say gift card.
Bummer, thanks so much for the reply! now i know not to make this mistake again.
Maybe I was lucky, but I was able to buy $200 vGC from two different Staples store last week. The cashier needed to scan on his side and entered the code. No problem at all.
If you only buy $300-$400 in VGC you won’t have to even have a manager override. At least at all my Staples stores around me I have never had my id checked or even to see my credit card. I always am just asked for the last 4 of my credit card number and nothing else.

Limit 1 per household means it’s not scalable, unlike OD/OM over last couple of weeks. Too bad!
Definitely not as scalable, but still a great deal. This is is still a way to generate free UR points and a small profit with relatively little hassle.
