Update: This now seems to be dead. Ebates has added language that purchases don’t track on mobile devices.
Ebates has temporarily increased the payout rate for American Express gift cards to 2% when using their mobile app. This increased payout appears to work for both business and personal American Express gift cards. This is part of Ebates’ Mobile Monday and the 2% rate is good for today only.
If you don’t already have a Ebates account, you can find a signup link for Ebates and many other cool things here.
Not Working on All Devices
Unfortunately the link from the app doesn’t appear to work from all devices. For example, it doesn’t work on an iPhone or an Android phone, however it does work on an iPad. Hopefully Ebates will get fix this soon so that purchases can be made from all devices.
Notes
- Do not use a promo code to reduce gift card fees or for free shipping since that will invalidate your cash back (the Premium Shipping Plan is fine, though).
- Do not buy denominations higher than $2,000 (see: $2K denomination limit on Amex gift card cash back)

I tried to order using IPAD but couldn’t order custom gift cards. Every time I choose the personal cards option I keep getting “Error 500: Filter [SecurityFilter]: filter is unavailable.” I tried today as well and it gave me the same error. Today I went via TCB a different portal than Ebates, but get the same error. Does anyone know how to overcome this error?
Any alternatives?
So let me get this straight…they do a special bonus to draw attention to their mobile app for tracking purchases and then point out that “purchases don’t track on mobile devices?” Well played, Ebates. Well played.
I got the error before on Android; now it says that it doesn’t track rewards on mobile purchases. Is this dead?
It appears so. Perhaps that is why there was so many issues this morning.
Crazy cause they did this mobile ap promo earlier this year and wasn’t a problem.
