Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is happening now! Follow us as Greg, Nick, and Stephen compete to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines before November 23rd. Who will complete the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?
Chase and United have been sending out a targeted bonus offer via postcard for the United MileagePlus Explorer card. The offer gives 50,000 miles after $2K in purchases during the first 3 months plus 5K miles for adding an authorized user. While the offer is targeted, there may be a way to get one sent to you.
How to Possibly Get Targeted
Ralph at Points Centric seems to have figured out what may be triggering the offer. He has noticed that the offer seems to arrive in the mail about 2-3 weeks after miles post from the MileagePlus shopping portal. He has tested this with several people and all seem to have received the offer. This is not guaranteed, however it may be worth trying if you are looking to get the card.
Make Sure To Opt-In
If you are going to try this, it is probably a good idea to check to make sure you are opted-in for offers via mail. Here is how to opt-in:
- Login to your MileagePlus account and click “View Account” on the top.
- On the account page scroll down to the “Address” section and verify they have your correct address then click “Privacy”.
- On this screen make sure to select “I want to receive offers via mail from United Airlines and its partners.”
Greg, the Frequent Miler has also received a similar offer recently via email, so it is probably a good idea to check that you are opted-in for email offers as well.

Thanks! This is the business card offer that has been around awhile. Definitely good for a lot of people, but this post is referring to the personal card.
Is this card churnable?
You could also get exactly the same offer in person if you happen to live near a Chase branch.
