A new Amex Offer for Enterprise, National or Alamo was launched this morning that’s offering $20 back when spending $200 at one of those rental car companies.

Enterprise, National or Alamo Amex Offer

The Deal

  • Get a one-time $20 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $200+ in 1 or more transactions directly with Enterprise, National or Alamo in the US or US Territories.

Key Terms

  • Must book directly with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental, or Alamo Rent A Car.
  • Offer valid only at US websites (partners.rentalcar.com/amexehi, enterprise.com, nationalcar.com, alamo.com), via US mobile apps, and at any participating locations in the US and US territories.
  • Car rentals must be completed by offer end date.
  • Not valid for previously completed rentals, or for bookings made through travel agents, third parties, or affiliate sites.
  • Excludes Enterprise Truck, Enterprise CarShare, RideShare by Enterprise, Car Sales, Fleet Management Solutions, Entertainment & Production Rentals, Meetings & Group Rentals, General Aviation/FBO Rentals, Tour Operator bookings and purchases with Travel Partners (such as Airfare, Train, Hotel).
  • Standard rental qualifications apply.
  • Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance.
  • Drivers under age 25 may have to pay higher rates.
  • Remember to check your insurance policy and/or credit card for rental vehicle coverage.

Quick Thoughts

The ‘Offer Details’ section includes a sentence saying “Valid at partners.rentalcar.com/amexehi”. Although you can book there, the longer list of terms confirms that you can book directly on the websites of Enterprise, National or Alamo. That can be worthwhile seeing as you can earn up to 5% additional cashback by going through a portal.

If your transaction(s) came to a total of exactly $200, you’d effectively be saving 10% which isn’t too bad. Something to consider when booking a rental car though is the insurance coverage provided by your credit card.

Most American Express cards only provide secondary cover domestically unless you enroll in their Premium Car Rental Protection. The cost for that coverage would be $19.95, so the Amex Offer would effectively offset that cost. If you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve, it might therefore make more sense to pay with that card as it offers primary coverage as standard and earns 3x on car rentals. I’ve also found it’s pretty easy to make a claim.

This Enterprise, National or Alamo Amex Offer is only available for rentals in the US or US Territories, so that’s something else to bear in mind if you’re looking at renting a car overseas.

I literally just turned in a rental car from a vacation we took two days ago. If this offer had come out two days earlier, I would’ve absolutely hit the $200 minimum and saved $20. Ugh ugh ugh. Terrible timing.
