Hilton Grand Vacations has a new timeshare offer out that could certainly be a very good trade if you have plans to visit any of the included locations. We’ve seen slightly better offers at times in the past, but getting 100K points for $149 and a couple hours of your time is a good trade on its own.

Quick Thoughts

I recently attended a timeshare presentation with Bluegreen Vacation rentals and Stephen previously wrote about his experiences with a Wyndham timeshare sales presentation. The bottom line is that you need to go in with the knowledge that timeshare salespeople can be very convincing. Look no further than eBay to find tons of people who were convinced to buy something that wasn’t a good fit for them as you can find plenty of people looking to sell their timeshare for next-to-nothing to get out of the forever commitment of paying the maintenance fees.

To that point, I was playing poker in Las Vegas years ago and in conversation with the player next to me I found out that he was a Hilton Grand Vacations salesperson. I had just recently attended a timeshare presentation in Orlando and I asked him why I would buy one in Las Vegas instead of in Orlando (back then you were buying a week at a specific place whereas most programs have shifted to a points subscription model these days). He flat-out said, “If you really want to buy one, you don’t want to buy it from someone like me. Buy it on the secondary market for pennies on the dollar”. Don’t get sucked into something that you don’t want to buy. If you are easily convinced, avoid timeshare presentations because they will find twenty ways to make it sound like a great deal (and it probably isn’t).

But if you’re willing to listen and you know that you won’t be easily convinced to buy into a bad deal, then by all means this could be a great deal. At a base level, the 100K points are worth around $500 worth of Hilton stays. The points alone are a solid deal for $150. Also getting a 3-night stay makes this a solid deal. That said, we have seen offers that included up to 150K points in the past, so if you don’t anticipate a need to stay in any of these places but rather you’re just after some cheap points, it might be worth holding out for a different deal.

Finally, note that there are also currently timeshare presentation offers from Wyndham and Choice Privileges that might be worth a look.

What does this mean? “You’re One Step Closer to Getting Away

Although this package wasn’t the right fit, see what other offers are available.”

It says not eligible if “attended a Hilton Grand Vacations sales presentation at any property within the last year”. How is the last year defined here? We attended one in Mar first week last year – so more than 365 days but does that mean we’re eligible or not? Also can we attend at the same property again? TIA!

using my aspire resort credit at an HGV in California….hahahah. That’ll be my first time at an HGV. Though this is intriguing….

Best I can do this card year, unless I want to pay a $100+ over the $250 credit – which I don’t. Man…California Hilton “resorts” are expensive in even shoulder seasons. Scam $36-$40 daily parking fees at Hilton Zachari Dunes and Hilton SB on top of the $30-ish resort fee. Self-parking.

Really..who goes to these places by public transit or ride-share or w/o a car. Almost nobody?

The Hilton calendar rates are ridiculous. Add $75 / night for these fees + regular tax…+ the calendar rate is the non-refundable rate…so add another $30+…so easily $100 more+ in total.

Next card year at a Japan resort – better use.

Seems like targeted as I see only 15000 points offer, despite being on Gold status. Rest shows the same.
