Kroger & its subsidiary brands are running a one day promotion on 1/17/15 offering 4x fuel rewards on gift cards.
While variable load cards are excluded, fixed value Visa & Mastercard gift cards along with a variety of merchant gift cards are eligible.
As a reminder the Chase Freedom card offers 5x on grocery store purchases this quarter. A number of other credit cards have category bonuses for grocery stores as well.

No Kroger’s out here. Would this work at Smith’s (I think they are a subsidiary)?
Yes Smith’s is a Kroger brand. I live in Las Vegas and Smith’s is my local brand as well. Works like a charm!
I need to get back to Kroger, pronto. Most of last year, their Michigan stores wouldn’t sell Visa/MC gift cards with payment by credit card.
