There is a new Amex Offer out today that I found on many Amex cards that is good for $50 back on $200 or more at Marriott Bonvoy properties. That’s a great offer to pair with the upcoming Marriott promotions offering double points and double elite night credits — and I was glad to find it on an Marriott Bonvoy Business card to maximize return on spend.
The Deal
- A new Amex Offer is out that is good for $50 back on $200 or more at Marriott Bonvoy properties in the US and US territories, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean
Key Terms
- Expires 4/10/21
- Valid at Marriott Bonvoy properties in the US and US territories, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean
- Excludes Marriott Vacation Club, Design Hotels, Protea Hotels (which aren’t in the qualifying area anyway), Marriott Executive Apartments, Homes & Villas by Marriott International and Vistana Signature Experiences
- Terms exclude gift card purchases
Quick Thoughts
This offer is a well-timed opportunity to save up to 25% on a Marriott stay. Combined with the offers that begin later this month, it could make for a great opportunity to make a mattress run that much cheaper (note that the bonus elite nights from Marriott based on last year’s status posted to many accounts yesterday, so you may be much closer to status than you anticipated).
Note that while the terms specifically exclude gift card purchases, past offers have worked on gift cards purchased at a hotel front desk. I suspect that will likely still work here. Be aware that the difficulty is in finding a front desk that stocks the cards and an employee who knows how to sell them, but if you find that combination it will likely trigger the offer.
Also keep in mind that as is usually the case for Marriott Amex Offers, this is only valid in the US / US Territories, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. That likely won’t be much of an issue for most members this time around, but it’s worth being aware.
Overall, I’d say that this is great timing for this kind of offer, particularly if you find it on a card that offers a good return at Marriott Bonvoy properties.
Thanks Nick, helpful posts like this one are why this is my fave miles/points blog :).
Does this have to be one stay of $200 or could it kick in after two $100 stays? T&Cs are unclear
I have a Just for You offer of 22.5K after 3 stays. This would be very useful to finish that off.
In the past multiple charges have worked for me.
Nick, would parking charges help get you to $200? Terms aren’t specific on that. Says something like room rate or room charges and taxes. If parking is a 3rd party vendor (happens more and more), probably not. But if charged to room… maybe?
If you can charge it to your room, I’d bet $50 it will work.
Expires in 2021 not 2020 lol
Thank you, fixed.
Would this stack with the Amex credit on the Brilliant card? For example can I spend $350, get $50 off via Amex offer, and $300 off from the statement credit that comes with the card ?
good question, did you try it or know of others who did? (saw the strategy also referenced @ doc)
