Price Chopper, which is a grocery chain in the Northeast of the US, is offering 5x fuel points on 3rd party gift cards. Interestingly, fuel points aren’t worth more toward fuel than toward groceries — so this essentially boils down to 5% back in grocery rewards.
The Deal
- From 8/16/20-8/29/20, Price Chopper grocery stores will be offering 5x AdvantantEdge Rewards points with the purchase of all third party gift cards
- Direct link to this offer
Key Terms
- Valid 8/16/20 to 8/29/20
- Excludes Price Chopper, Market Bistro, Market 32 variable load Visa or Mastercard, and general purpose reloadable cards
Quick Thoughts
As seen above, Price Chopper rewards can be redeemed for either money off of groceries or gas — and either at the same rate.
See the chart above for full details. You earn 1 point per $1 spent. At the bottom end:
- 100 points = either $1 off of groceries or $0.05 off per gallon up to 20 gallons
As you can see, the maximum you can save in gas is $1, and that is only if you fill up the full 20 gallons (and assuming that the participating Sunoco station has the best price in town, which is not the case in my experiences with the Price Chopper program). I think most would therefore be better off redeeming for money off of their next grocery shopping trip.
That means this deal is essentially 5% back in rewards.
