There is a new Amex Offer out today that’s good for $7 back when you spend $14.99 or more on HBO Max. The offer can be repeated up to 3 times. This could make for a potential stack with limited-time streaming credits on some Amex cards and obviously makes for a great deal for a few months if you’re paying for this service anyway.

Quick Thoughts
HBO Max is basically the stand-alone app version of HBO that you can get if you’re not a TV subscriber. The regular price is $14.99 per month, so this offer basically cuts the cost in half for three months.
I saw this offer on several personal cards. If you have the offer on an Amex Platinum card or Amex Green card that is offering temporary streaming credits as part of the COVID enhancements, I presume that you will probably be able to stack both offers (though note that Amex can sometimes get cagey when offers stack to make them profitable rather than free, so YMMV as to whether they may claw back the extra seven bucks down the road).
Overall, a decent deal for cord-cutters. We’ve added this an other offers to our Current Amex Offers databse.
I have this offer on several cards. As far as I can tell, there is no way to prepay your bill, is there?
There are tech issues relating to this offer.
On the desktop, you can subscribe to HBOMax and have access to many great titles. But when you log into your large TV (using Amazon Fire TV), the App is limited to HBO app with many of the titles found on the computer missing. No tech support or 800 number to call to address this issue!
Will use for 3 months and then cancel!
That’s a different app. The HBO app is the re-branded name of HBO Go / HBO Now, which is what you would typically get access to from your TV provider with a paid HBO channel subscription. HBO Max is the standalone app subscription. I’d bet it’s also possible that if you’ve subscribed to the HBO channel in Amazon Fire, it’s like subscribing to the TV channel rather than subscribing to HBO Max.
