I tried to do this for my daughter. Unforetunately her last pay check before going to school did not get deposited into the correct account. I read that you could use TreasuryDirect to get the direct deposit to work, alais, the federal governments third part veification system for adding an account to TreasuryDirect gave and error which now required a medalion guarantee. Chase is not willing to provide and neither is any other bank/brokerage. Does anyone have any idea how to get a Chase deposit count as a direct deposit? Thank you in advance!

I don’t understand the savings 0.01%APY. $200/3mo. If you keep $15k in a conservative 3% account, you make $112.5/3mo. So really bonus only $88 bonus here. Only do this if your doing both checking and savings.

Your math is off. Earning 3% a year on 15k (a conservative HIY savings account in the US right now) yields around $450/year. Just under $40 per month. Not sure where you got $112.5 a month. There are no savings accounts where you can earn that much a month on 15k. That would be almost 10% a year interest

Tim

Read again, it says 3mo.

$15000×0.03 = $450.00/yr
$450/12 = $37.50/mo
$450/4 = $112.50/3mo

This savings only bonus says maintain 90 days for $200 bonus. If you just leave in a HYS for 90 days you get $112.50. So net bonus is actually only $87.50, subtract opportunity cost. So my comment was make sure you do the checking AND savings, not just the savings bonus.

Thank you!

What level of hanky panky would raise red flags? Is getting a boatload of 5X at staples in $200 increments considered hanky panky? How about a bunch of money order deposits?

Is it worth closing an existing checking to get this deal after 90 days?
