Marriott Bonvoy has launched a new promotion which is giving 1,000 bonus points for each night you stay, as well as double elite night credits. The downside? It’s only valid on paid stays.
The Deal

- Elite Night Credits will count only toward the status year in which they are posted.
- A Member who elects to earn Miles is not eligible for this promotion.
Quick Thoughts
This isn’t a particularly compelling promotion as the RRV for 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy points is $7. That said, 1,000 bonus points per night is clearly better than zero bonus points per night. For people booking longer stays, it’s also better than past Marriott promos where they’ve offered 2,000 bonus points per stay, as staying 3+ nights during this new promotion period will garner more bonus points.
For anyone looking to earn elite status with Marriott, earning double elite night credits could be extremely useful too. If you have both a personal and business Marriott credit card, you’ll be starting the year with 30 elite night credits (or 40 if your personal card is the Bonvoy Brilliant card). Staying just 10 paid nights during the promo period would earn you 20 elite night credits – enough for Platinum status. Staying 23 nights would earn 46 elite night credits – enough for Titanium status when paired with the 30 nights from credit cards.
As mentioned at the start of the post though, the downside is that this offer is only valid on paid stays. For road warriors that won’t be an issue, but anyone booking stays with points or free night certificates will be out of luck.
Seeing as this promotion is only valid on paid stays, be sure to remember to click through from a shopping portal – here are the current rates. Portal rates for Marriott tend to be fairly low, but I’ve gotten targeted offers for 8% back from Capital One Shopping recently. It’s therefore worth browsing the Marriott website on a browser with the Capital One Shopping browser extension installed; that way you’ll hopefully be targeted with a better offer within 24 hours or so.
There are also Amex Offers for Marriott brands and Marriott Homes & Villas, as well as Chase Offers for some specific Marriott brands as well as Homes & Villas.
Update: As is often the case with Marriott promotions, many Bonvoy members are reporting in the comments that they’re unable to register for this promo. That usually seems to be as a result of Marriott’s poor tech rather than members not being targeted. In the past, people have had success sending a DM to MBonvoyAssist on Twitter, so hopefully that still works.
I tried to register for this promotion and received a response saying “This promotion is not available”. It offered 3 potential reasons.
1- You are not eligible for it
2 – It has expired
3 – You are trying to access a miles promotion and are a points earner
2 & 3 are just wrong so I am wondering why I am not eligible. Any thoughts?
Marriott often has issues with registering for promotions. It can be worth reaching out to MBonvoyAssist on Twitter as they’ve been able to register people for promotions before.
Anyone know how points + money stays count for this? You are paying for something, so maybe a paid night? I have a stay in India where the calculus worked well for points + INR – normally these are a bad deal I know – but I might change it to all paid if that gives the bonus nights and the other mechanism doesn’t!
From the terms:
Award redemption stay nights, including Cash + Points Awards, Free Night Awards, or a Points redemption, are not eligible for the promotion.
Thanks – I read through the T&Cs a couple of times, but totally missed the very obvious bolded text, sorry!
Does check out on April 28 count?
Yes
Based on past experience yes. I had a stay in 2023 with a check out date of the last day of the promotion and earned the double elite nights + bonus points. Save an activated offer screenshot in case you need to ask Marriott support to manually credit missing points or nights.
Will nights booked via Fine Hotels and Resorts count?
They should
Data Point: I’ve been Bonvoyed at both Park MGM and MGM Grand when booking via AMEX “Hotel Collection” on separate trips. I included my Bonvoy number on the AMEX reservation. Was told no Bonvoy credit unless booked via the Marriott site. I previously had luck with getting credited at a Marriott resort overseas booked via Fine Hotels and Resorts, although there was no elite night credit promotion then.
The Hotel Collection doesn’t work in the same manner as Fine Hotels – it’s only the Fine Hotels bookings that will pass along the number, Hotel Collection doesn’t do this.
I just made a two night THC booking for a marriott property in UK and it is showing up in my upcoming stays on the Marriott website. Could just be an MGM specific case of being Bonvoyed…
So can one assume that the chains that only earn 1 elite night credit every two qualifying nights would receive the bonus night per night? So a two night stay would net three elite nights, one for the two qualifying nights as base, plus a bonus night per night for a total of three nights?
same, not eligible. i will wait a little while to see if maybe they have to kick it to all accounts?
Same – I’ve never had this issue before but last year a lot of people had this issue – they called and had the promo added manually. I’m hoping it’s just a roll out glitch that gets sorted today!
Same. Hard eye roll.
Had to make sure that all the influencers got the promotion first.
Not eligible?
p2 says not eligible.
Will it apply to paid stays that have already been booked? If have cancellable paid stays booked and it would be good to know if they would count or if I would need to create fresh bookings
It applies to existing bookings, you’re good!
