Quick Thoughts
For many years, the opportunity to earn rewards on Hilton stays through shopping portals was extremely limited. Earnings usually maxed out at 1% cashback and those with Hilton Honors Diamond status – and sometimes Gold and Silver status too – were excluded from earning cashback.
For a couple of years Hilton disappeared from shopping portals, then it made a return to a handful of them last year. TopCashback has been offering 4%-10% cashback for about 9 months which itself was very generous, so getting an offer for up to 33.5% cashback is incredible.
You might have to play the long game with this though. I received this targeted offer via email and I suspect it’s because I visited the Hilton website six days ago. Sometimes Capital One Shopping sends targeted emails such as these within an hour or so of you visiting a website, but in this case it took almost a week. There’s also no guarantee that you’ll be targeted, but if you think that you might want to book a Hilton stay soon, it’d be worth browsing the Hilton website with the Capital One Shopping browser extension installed.
If you’ll be booking a stay for before April 30, remember to register for Hilton’s latest double points promo. And don’t forget that several Amex cards come with Hilton credits that can stack with this portal cashback offer:
- Hilton Aspire – $200 twice-annual Hilton Resorts credit
- Hilton Surpass – $50 quarterly Hilton credit (can be used at any Hilton brand)
- Hilton Business – $60 quarterly Hilton credit (can be used at any Hilton brand)
- Amex Business Platinum – $50 quarterly Hilton credit (can be used at any Hilton brand)

One has to do a prepay rate I assume. Bc how would Cap 1 portal track you actually made the stay?
No, it doesn’t have to be a prepaid stay. A stay where you pay at the property will track in the same way.
Do you still get elite benefits by booking through the portal
Yes, because you’re clicking through to the Hilton website and booking directly
Are you adding Capital one shopping portal to your browser?
I’ve been getting the 33.5% target offer email for months now, since November 2024? Previously the highest I got was 22.5%. Already used the 33.5% successfully for a stay back in January. Just got 33.5% offer email again yesterday.
I used a C1 shopping code this morning for 30% off a GMC Acadia, which meant an all in price of $287 for a 10 day rental.
I got a lower 22.5% / 15% in my Capital One Shopping feed even though I didn’t get a targeted email. Now let’s see if I click through and abandon the session if I get the higher rate by email…
I was targeted for this but all of the eligible rates had to include breakfast, which made the rooms more expensive. I am not sure if that’s only in my case but YMMV.
