Last week, Capital One added JetBlue as a new transfer partner. While it’s always good news when you have more transfer partner options, in this case the news was far from being exciting because the transfer ratio was a very unattractive 1,000:600.
It looks like Capital One might have noticed that few transfers have taken place and so are trying to promote the new partnership. As such, they sent out an email today offering 5,000 bonus TrueBlue points when making your first transfer of Capital One miles to the program. What makes this a little strange is that they’ve decided to hide the offer away on your account, but it’s worth taking advantage of because you only need to transfer 1,000 miles to trigger the bonus.
The Deal
- Transfer 1,000+ Capital One miles to JetBlue TrueBlue & get 5,000 bonus points.
Key Terms
- Expiry date unknown.
- Minimum transfer of 1,000 Capital One rewards miles in increments of 100 miles.
- Limit of one bonus per eligible Capital One Rewards account.
Quick Thoughts
When writing about the launch of the Capital One/JetBlue partnership, I’d noted that a 1,000:600 transfer ratio was very poor. Due to the somewhat fixed value of JetBlue points, you’d be better off booking a paid flight and using your Capital One miles to offset the cost on your statement than you would be to transfer at that ratio.
This limited time transfer bonus changes the equation though. It has a low transfer threshold of only 1,000 miles, so doing that minimum transfer will earn you 5,600 TrueBlue points. That’s an excellent deal and is one that I’ll be taking advantage of, despite not having flown JetBlue for 10+ years and thus having had ~7,000 points sitting there in all that time.
The reason I’m planning on transferring is because JetBlue points don’t expire. Being able to more than quintuple (or fipple as Greg once put it, which I much prefer) my miles which then won’t expire seems like a worthwhile speculative transfer, even though I have zero current plans to redeem them.
This transfer bonus is a little weird though. I only discovered it due to an email from Capital One. However, when logging in to my account I didn’t see it listed prominently like it normally would be. Perhaps that’s because it’s a lump sum bonus rather than a percentage bonus and so Capital One’s system can’t display it properly.
It’s only when expanding that box that it displays the fact that there’s a transfer bonus. Confusingly though, it doesn’t provide much in the way of details, so if I hadn’t received an email about the offer there’d be no knowing what the minimum transfer amount was.
There’s also no end date listed for this transfer bonus, so if you’re interested I’d make your transfer ASAP in case it gets pulled quickly.
Update: A few additional notes regarding this transfer bonus. One is that transfers are instant for some people, while for others it takes 1-2 hours.
The other is that reader Stephanie shared that if you have more than one Capital One card, you can transfer 1,000 miles from each one and get the bonus every time. I’m not convinced that’s how Capital One wants it to work, so there’s no guarantee that will be an option for long.
A couple of readers have also highlighted that JetBlue offers family pooling which can help you avoid having 5,600 points sitting in two or more accounts.

Offer is no longer available as of 2/26/2025 @9:15PM
Capital One AU, using their own CO login, is still not able to transfer to their on JB account but only to primary cardholder’s, correct? Just making sure I’m not missing anything.
DP
P1 VX: transfer to P1 account worked (took 30 – 60 minutes)
P2 VX: transfer to P2 account worked (took 1 hour)
P2 V: transfer to P2 account worked (took 1 hour)
Created pool to combine all 16,800 points.
Worked without a hitch for me. transfer 1k C1 over, get 5600 jet blue
Trying to first create my JetBlue account, but I keep on getting “internal server error”; tried switching browsers…same issue. Thoughts? I definitely want to take advantage of this while it lasts!
Does Capital One allow you to transfer the miles into whatever JetBlue account# you give them or does the name of the cardholder need to match. My wife doesn’t have a JetBlue account currently and I’m lazy to set one up so am hoping I could transfer to my account and get the bonus?
DP: posted instantly. Thanks for flagging FM team! And might be worth adding a note to the article that JetBlue has family pooling so easy to combine.
I did the transfer and 3 hours later the 5,600 miles posted in my JetBlue account. It posted as two separate transactions in my JetBlue account (5,000 and 600)
Update–took 2-3 hours but finally came through.
Seems like things are running more smoothly now. Just did a transfer, and the 5.6k points posted immediately.
Just got my 5.6K from 1k transfer after a few hours.
It took a couple of hours after I transferred, but I just got the e-mail from Capital One saying points have been transferred. While the Capital One e-mail doesn’t mention the 5K point bonus, the bonus showed up in my Jetblue account.
My first transfer did not go through and the points were returned to my account. I tried the transfer again and the 600 points were posted instantly, but not seeing the 5000 bonus points. Do you think this is an issue on the Capital One side or Jet Blue? I’m guessing it didn’t trigger automatically since it was my second attempt to transfer, but it was my first real transfer.
Update – after being patient and waiting to recieve the email from Capital One, I see the bonus miles in my account as a separate transaction now.
Just a data point. Wonder if their server is overloaded. Got the e-mail and transferred points. They haven’t shown up yet on the JetBlue side–it has been a half hour.
Got the email this morning and the 600 + 5,000 bonus showed up immediately after transfer.
My P2 (wife) has the Venture and over 100,000 miles. She doesn’t have or need a JetBlue account though. Could I transfer 1,000 miles from her Capital One account to my JetBlue account and expect to get the 5,000 bonus a second time?
Lon, did you try this?
Another option would be to setup a points pool between both of you in TrueBlue – that way you would have access to use her 5600 miles once she transferred.
Thanks, I hadn’t thought of this. I didn’t realize JetBlue offered a points pool.
