Chase might be in the middle of making a terrific improvement to user management of credit cards online: there’s now at least some ability to manually move credit lines between accounts without having to contact Chase.
I was just tooling around in my Chase account and discovered something that I’ve never seen before: under “More,” there’s a new menu item, “Move credit line:”
Selecting that, I see an intermediate screen telling me the benefits of being able to move credit between Chase cards:
After clicking “Get started,” I have the option to move credit to my World of Hyatt Business card, but I can only move a maximum of $5,000:
If I choose “Next,” the only option I have is to move up to $5,000 in credit FROM one of my Ink Business Preferred cards TO my World of Hyatt card. Moving in the opposite direction isn’t possible.
I imagine that the reason I’m limited to $5,000 is because the Ink Business Preferred has a minimum credit line of $5,000. My other business cards with higher credit limits don’t show up as options to either move credit from or to.
Quick Thoughts
Currently, I only see this on my business cards, and the only transfer that I can make is from my Ink Business Preferred to my World of Hyatt business card. When I go into my wife’s account, the “Move credit line” menu option is there, but I get an error message.
It appears that Chase is rolling this out over the weekend, or possibly doing some Beta testing. Either way, this is great news if it sticks around and is expanded. It would be incredibly useful to be able to quickly move credit from one card where you don’t want it to another card where it may be more useful. You can do that right now by calling Chase or sending a secure message, but it would be much better to be able to manage it yourself in a couple of seconds online.
I’d love to know if everyone else is seeing this, and whether or not anyone has it on their personal cards (as opposed to business cards only).

personal only (but all of my personal cards have the option) for me right now but maybe because my credit is tied up with my biz cards.
THANK YOU! I just (finally!) Got the CSP to dump the United card, which mostly I kept for the primary rental car insurance and maybe lounge passes. After AA walked me to UAL at ORD last year and the only nearby lounge closed earlier than schedule, then the card fee increased from $95 to $150 and won’t even allow gifting the passes I can’t use, I decided it’s time to say goodbye. I moved all but the mandatory $5K to the CSP, and when I close it at renewal, I will then just ask them to reallocate. Excellent move for Chase!
I have it on my personal but not on my biz. Full flexibility to move upwards of $35,000 in credit around on the cards. Thanks for pointing this out. Can be useful when cancelling or product changing.
active on personal accounts; 1 out of 2 biz accounts
Have it on both personal and biz cards. Thx
I see it available on all personal cards. Just moved credit. Quick and smooth.
Amex has had it for quite a while. It’s about time. Now, if only Citi and Barclays would follow.
I remember when I thought 10k of credit was a big deal.
I have option on both business and consumer cards.
Nothing on 8 consumer cards.
Also seeing it on my business cards only.
yes the customer service rep told me about this when I called in about a week ago. Now I don’t have to call in.
