Last week, Loyalty Lobby reported on an opportunity to potentially pick up a free 2,500 Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles by downloading the official Lotusmiles app (not to be confused with the Vietnam Airlines app) and logging in for the first time between July 1 and July 15, 2025. It isn’t completely clear to me whether that is inclusive of July 15th and whether the end date is based on Vietnam’s time zone or your local time zone, but it may still be possible to get a free 2,500 miles for those who install the app and log in soon.
The Deal
- Vietnam Lotusmiles is offering 2,500 bonus miles when you download the Lotusmiles App and log in for the first time between July 1 and July 15, 2025.

Key Terms
- If multiple members log in using the same device, only the first member will be eligible to receive miles.
Quick Thoughts
It is worth mentioning that the outset that I am not positive whether this promotion has ended (since it is now already July 15th in Vietnam) or if it is still active whether it ends at 11:59pm on July 15th Vietnam time or based on the local time zone where your account is registered. Proceed with the knowledge that you may or may not get the bonus. The terms indicate that bonus miles will be awarded on July 31, 2025, so I don’t think it will be possible to know in advance whether you will be getting the bonus.
Also important: You need to download and log in to the Lotusmiles app, which is separate from the Vietnam Airlines app. I initially loaded the Vietnam Airlines app but then realized that Lotusmiles, the Vietnam Airlines loyalty program, also has its own (separate) app. Your login information for both apps should be the same and you should see your mileage balance in both apps, but the Lotusmiles app is the one being promoted with this offer.
I just downloaded and logged in to the app and have not yet received the bonus miles. I did receive 1,000 miles when I initially signed up for Lotusmiles earlier this year, so I have 1,000 miles in my account now but no bonus as of yet. Again, I don’t expect the 2,500 bonus miles to show up for a couple of weeks.
I am not familiar with specific Lotusmiles sweet spots, though I tried to dig into it a big several months ago. I found the process of finding award availability to be a challenge, but hopefully the launch of the app indicates that they are looking to have a stronger presence and make the program a bit more accessible. Vietnam Airlines is a Mesa Homeowners Rewards transfer partner, so as more folks accumulate miles that can be transferred to Vietnam Airlines, perhaps this will be a program to watch.
Note that as per the terms, if multiple members log in using the same device, only the first member will be eligible to receive miles. If you have a Player 2 (or 3 or 4) in your household, you’ll need to download the app on more than one device.

Are any of those sweet spots as low as 2.5k?
You get 1k for signing up with Vietnam airlines, and why not credit delta flights to somewhere else like Vietnam. But if you just want to fly to Flyspeck Arkansas then yeah, don’t bother.
