Southwest is running a new promotion that’s offering targeted Rapid Rewards members up to 15,000 bonus points, as well as a promotional Companion Pass. The requirements are more steep though than Southwest’s occasional promos awarding a limited time Companion Pass.
The Deal
- Southwest is offering the following rewards when booking round trip flights or one way flights:
- One round trip or two one way flights = 5,000 bonus points
- Two round trips or four one way flights = Additional 5,000 bonus points
- Three round trips or six one way flights = Additional 5,000 bonus points
- Four round trips or eight one way flights = Promotional Companion Pass valid January 6-March 6, 2026.

- Only the Rapid Rewards Member who received this offer from Southwest Airlines is eligible for this promotion. Offer is nontransferable. Eligible Rapid Rewards Members (“Member”) can earn Rapid Rewards bonus points and promotional Companion Pass between January 6 and March 6, 2026, when registering, booking, and then flying qualifying revenue flights for this promotion between 8:00 a.m. Central Time (“CT”) on September 4, 2025 and 11:59 p.m. CT on December 15, 2025 (the “Promotion Period”).
- During the Promotion Period, Member must register for this promotion by completing the registration form located at www.southwest.com/loyalty/myaccount/rapid-rewards and is subject to the Rapid Rewards restrictions set forth below. Member can: (i) earn 5,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points after booking and flying one (1) qualifying round trip flight or two (2) qualifying one-way flights, (ii) earn an additional 5,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points after booking and flying two (2) qualifying round trip flights or four (4) qualifying one-way flights, (iii) earn an additional 5,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points after booking and flying three (3) qualifying round trip flights or six (6) qualifying one-way flights, and (iv) earn promotional Companion Pass between January 6, 2026 and March 6, 2026 after booking and flying four (4) qualifying round trip flights or eight (8) qualifying one-way flights, provided that each booking includes Member’s Rapid Rewards account number at the time of booking.
- Member may earn up to a maximum of 15,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points through this promotion.
- The promotional Companion Pass is valid from January 6, 2026 and March 6, 2026 and allows you to designate one person to fly with you, free of airline charges (does not include taxes and fees from $5.60 one-way) on flights purchased by you, booked through Southwest, and completed between January 6, 2026 and March 6, 2026.
- Member must register for this promotion during the Promotion Period, and registration must be completed prior to booking and commencement of travel during the Promotion Period.
- Member’s Rapid Rewards account number must be entered at the time of booking Member’s qualifying flight(s) to be considered a qualifying flight for this promotion.
- Valid on new reservations booked within the Promotion Period only.
- A qualifying round trip flight is a round trip revenue flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city and back to the originating airport or carrier-recognized co-terminal, and a qualifying one-way flight is a one-way revenue flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city. Further, a qualifying flight include flights operated by Southwest Airlines and paid entirely with U.S. dollars, Southwest LUV Vouchers, gift cards, flight credits, and those paid with Cash + Points.
- Travel booked or flown prior to Member’s registration for this promotion is not considered a qualifying flight for this promotion.
- Rapid Rewards bonus points earned through this promotion are in addition to the regular Rapid Rewards points earned through Rapid Rewards.
- Getaways by Southwest bookings will qualify for this promotional offer. Charter flights, group travel, Companion Pass, and reward travel do not qualify for this promotion.
- Valid on Southwest Airlines published, scheduled service.
- Changes made to the itinerary after purchase may eliminate qualification for this promotion.
- This promotion cannot be combined with any other promotional offer.
Quick Thoughts
2-3 times per year, Southwest runs an offer for all Rapid Rewards members that awards a promotional Companion Pass after taking two one way flights or a round trip. The requirements for this targeted offer are more stringent than that as you’ll need to take eight flights – four round trips or eight one ways – in order to earn a two month Companion Pass that’s valid from early 2026.
Those occasional promos for all members can sometimes be worth booking cheap flights to qualify for if you’ll be able to get great value from the Companion Pass. With this targeted offer, it’s almost certainly unlikely to be worth booking four round trips or eight one ways unless you know for sure that you’ll be booking a ton of flights with a companion in January and February (and early March) and that you’d be flying all of those with Southwest.
Still, it’s a nice reward that’s worth registering for if you’re targeted. Even if you’ve no chance of flying enough to earn the promo Companion Pass, you might earn 5,000-15,000 bonus points along the way, even if you don’t happen to have plans to fly with Southwest right at this moment.
