Bank of America Museums On Us: Get free entry to 200+ museums on 1st weekend of the month

For many years, Bank of America has offered cardholders complimentary access to hundreds of museums nationwide on the first full weekend of each month. That’s via a program called Museums on Us and it’s available to both credit and debit cardholders.

Quick Thoughts

The Museums on Us program has been around for a long time, but it’s a feature that flies under the radar seeing as it’s not explicitly listed as a card benefit for Bank of America cardholders.

At the time of publishing this post, there are more than 200 participating locations across 40 different states plus Washington D.C. There are museums, galleries, arboretums, children’s museums, zoos, and more, so there’s something for anyone’s age and interests.

The way it works is that on the first full weekend each month, Bank of America cardholders can show their credit or debit card at the admissions desk and get complimentary entry. This only gets free entry for the cardholder, not anyone else who’s with you unless they’re a cardholder too. If you have a Bank of America credit card, it might be worth adding family members as an authorized user in order for them to have a card in their name. You don’t even necessarily need to give them the card to use if you’ll be visiting with them.

There are lots of excellent places to visit on the list. Scrolling through the list, I recognized quite a few museums that we went to on our road trip including the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN, Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, AZ, the History of Diving Museum in Islamorada, FL, the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL, the New Bedford Whaling Museum in New Bedford, MA, the Children’s Museum of Virginia in Portsmouth, VA, and more.

My wife also visited the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture in Baltimore, MD, but I had to miss it as I was working that day. She loved it and I believe it was one of her favorite museums from the road trip, so that’s another one that could be worth checking out. I’ve also only heard good things about The National WWII Museum in New Orleans, LA. Let us know in the comments if there are any other museums participating in the Museums on Us program that are particularly notable for one reason or another.

Scanning the list for California, I highly recommend the Computer History Museum in Mountain View if you want to learn about computers, technology, and the internet from
Silicon Valley.

Awesome! I’ll finally go see the Phillips Collection in DC!
