Excellent Wyndham promo: Stay 2 nights & earn up to 22,500 bonus points

5

Wyndham Rewards Member Month has returned and they’ve kicked it off with a new promotion on stays through the end of June. It has a similar look and feel to recent promotions as you’ll earn 7,500 bonus points after staying two nights, with an additional 7,500 bonus points available to cardholders. What makes it even better this time around though is that you can earn 7,500 extra bonus points if you’re subscribed to Wyndham Rewards Insider.

Quick Thoughts

There are several parts to be aware of here. The base promotion awards 7,500 bonus points after staying two nights; those two nights can be achieved as either two consecutive nights or as two separate one night stays which is handy. For that element of the promo, you can earn up to 30,000 bonus points (i.e. by staying a total of eight nights during the promo period).

There’s then an additional element for cardholders which includes both credit cardholders and debit cardholders. If you have one of those, you’ll earn 7,500 bonus points after staying two nights and paying for those nights with your Wyndham credit or debit card. I’ve bolded that part because simply being a cardholder isn’t sufficient; the stays must be paid for on the card in order to count. Be aware that while the 7,500 bonus points for the stay(s) tend to post quickly, the bonus points for being a cardholder usually take much longer. It’s therefore worth setting up a reminder for yourself for after June 30 to verify that you did indeed receive the cardholder bonus points.

Finally, you can earn an additional 7,500 bonus points after staying two nights if you’re a Wyndham Rewards Insider which is Wyndham’s subscription service that costs $95 a year. When reviewing Wyndham Rewards Insider last fall, my overall take was that it’s an appalling waste of money for the vast majority of people based on its standard set of benefits. However, the ability to earn an extra 7,500 bonus points during this promotion as a Wyndham Rewards Insider member does change the math somewhat. It’s still not a no-brainer, but those bonus points do go a long way towards mitigating the annual fee.

Note that this promotion is only valid on paid stays – not award stays. I don’t think Points + Cash stays are eligible either. As a result, it’s worth clicking through from a shopping portal before making your booking(s); you can find the current rates here, here, and here.

The terms also state that stays should be booked after registering. That leads me to believe that already-booked stays won’t be eligible for this promotion unless you cancel those and rebook. Before doing that though, be sure to check the cancellation policy to ensure it’s not a non-refundable rate, as well as checking the pricing before rebooking in case it’s gotten more expensive since you originally booked.

In a press release, Wyndham also mentioned there being a promotion for Wyndham Rewards Business members which will give 15,000 bonus points after staying twice. That website isn’t currently showing that other promotion, but it’ll hopefully go live soon, unless the press release trailed that promo too early and that it’ll be launched in the next few weeks as a future Member Month promotion.

Assuming these are paid stays- not points- correct?

Does the booking have to occur after registration or just the stay?
