Quick Thoughts

Although Ticketmaster is on some shopping portals, there are plenty of portals where it doesn’t have a presence which includes all airline shopping portals. That’s why it was notable when Ticketmaster struck up that partnership with Delta and why it’s notable that American Airlines now has a similar partnership.

There is a slight difference between how the two partnerships work. With Delta, you’re directed to the main Ticketmaster website after entering your SkyMiles number. With American Airlines on the other hand, it looks like you book your ticket(s) at AAdvantageEvents.com, entering your American Airlines AAdvantage account number while checking out to have the bonus miles and Loyalty Points credited to your account.

Although the image used above in the post references sports tickets, it looks like any types of event tickets sold on Ticketmaster are eligible such as concerts, comedy shows, etc. You’ll earn 1 mile and 1 Loyalty Point per dollar spent:

While that’s not a huge return, it could be of particular interest for ticket resellers, as well as people who want a way to get some activity on their AAdvantage account to ensure their miles don’t expire. It’s also nice that you earn Loyalty Points as well as it means buying tickets can help you earn status with American Airlines.
