Accor is currently running a promotion that’s awarding 1,000 bonus points when buying a £200 or €200 gift card. The gift cards are only valid at participating properties in Europe, but if you’ll be staying at any of them in the near future, this is an offer that could be worth taking advantage of.

Quick Thoughts

Accor points are worth a fixed two Euro cents per point, so 1,000 bonus points are worth €20 (~$23.30). That’s a 10% bonus which is a pretty good deal if you’re planning on staying at any participating properties in the next few years.

It’s important to be aware that not all Accor properties accept gift cards. There are hundreds of eligible properties, all of which are in Europe. You can download the full list of properties here; that’s a PDF that requires saving to your computer to view the list.

Something else that’s important to be aware of is that Accor gift cards expire after three years. I imagine that if you’re planning on buying these that you’ll have a use in mind for the near future, but consider that expiry date if your travel plans wouldn’t include redeeming the full value of the card(s) within 36 months.

To be eligible to earn the bonus, you have to spend 200 EUR/GBP/CHF or 850 PLN or more. To get the most bang for your buck, it makes sense to buy 200 Euros worth of gift cards because that’s the lowest amount in US dollars after accounting for currency conversions.

The landing page for this offer might take you to gift cards in British pounds. If it does, you can change the currency in the top-right corner of the page on desktop. That’ll then list 250 EUR, 100 EUR, and 25 EUR denominations. I didn’t see a 200 EUR denomination, but you can add a 100 EUR card to your cart, then increase the number of those to two in order to buy 200 Euros worth.

I’m not sure if Accor processes payment for these gift card purchases, or if it’s a third party. I’ve taken a look at the gift card terms and conditions and the data protection section only refers to Accor handling your information and no mention of a third party processor. That means an Accor gift card purchase could code as a hotel purchase, so consider paying with a card that’ll offer bonus rewards in that category.

This promotion ends tomorrow (December 9). I’d guess the end time will be based on a European time zone, so I imagine it’ll more likely end at 6pm ET than midnight ET.
