Alaska Airlines used to have an EasyBiz feature to its program for corporate travelers. Following the recent launch of its Atmos Rewards loyalty program, that corporate feature has been rebranded as Atmos for Business.
If you were already registered for the EasyBiz program, there’s nothing you need to do; Alaska Airlines has confirmed that your existing membership has been migrated over to the new program. For other travelers though, this business program is worth being aware of due to the additional rewards available for both the business and travelers.
After registering for Atmos for Business, companies will earn one Atmos point per dollar spent on travel with Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, while travelers themselves will earn 10% extra status points having booked through this corporate program.
For businesses that spend a lot on corporate travel with Alaska, the bonus points earned will be a nice additional bonus. For travelers, the 10% additional status points are on top of the base redeemable points and status points that you earn, so the 10% is the cherry on top, rather than being an alternative to rewards that would’ve been earned outside of the Atmos for Business program. That means that this is a win-win for both the company and traveler(s).
There is a barrier to entry though. The terms of the program state that the business needs to have spent $5,000+ on Alaska and/or Hawaiian Airlines flights in the past 15 months. I’m not entirely sure how that works though, because if you can’t register for the program until your business has spent $5,000+, how can your business prove that it’s spent that much if it’s not able to register until after spending that amount? Perhaps your business can register for the program, but you and the traveler(s) don’t earn anything until after hitting that $5,000 threshold, but that part doesn’t seem to be very clear.
