Alaska Airlines promo: Book round trip flight & get 30% off a future flight (must book today 2/25/25)

Alaska Airlines launched a flash promotion today which is a little convoluted, but could provide good value later in the year.

You can get a 30% discount code for travel this fall by booking a round trip flight today only (Tuesday February 25) which has to start by the end of March and completed by mid-April.

I know, I said it was a little convoluted. It gets better though. In a Best Western-esque attempt at making a promotion as inaccessible as possible, this Alaska Airlines promotion isn’t valid for trips starting in Alaska either (nor Oregon).

The Deal

• Alaska Airlines is running the following promotion:
  • Book a round trip flight on February 25, 2025
  • First flight must depart by March 31, 2025 and round trip must be completed by April 15, 2025
  • In late April you’ll receive a discount code valid for 30% off a flight between August 20-November 20, 2025.

• Travel must be on a roundtrip itinerary operated and marketed by Alaska Airlines, booked on February 25, 2025, via alaskaair.com.
• Travel must commence on or before March 31, 2025, and be completed by April 15, 2025.
• A valid Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan account must be linked to the booking at the time of purchase.
• Codeshare flights, partner-operated flights, and award travel are not eligible for this offer.

Quick Thoughts

This promotion is laughable in its complexity, but I wanted to publish it anyway as I imagine there’ll be some people who’ll be able to take advantage of it nonetheless.

As mentioned already, the terms of the offer are pretty stringent. For starters, you only get today (February 25) to book your round trip flight. You then only have five weeks to start that round trip and seven weeks in which to complete it.

At some point in late April, you’ll be emailed a code that gives 30% off a flight in the fall. Is that 30% code valid for both one way trips and round trips, or on a one way flight only? Who knows? The offer page says that “Additional terms and conditions may apply”, so perhaps there are additional quirks to usage of the code.

Perhaps the most bizarre part is that this Alaska Airlines promotion isn’t valid if you live in Alaska (or setting off from there at least). Hopefully this doesn’t give American Airlines ideas for a future promotion where you can get 30% off a future flight so long as you’re not wanting to set off from anywhere in America.
