Key Terms
Terms below are for the United portal. The American & Southwest portals have the same terms other than the promo dates, earning rates & the fact that United is the only one of the three with in-store offers.
- During the “Summer Bonus” offer, which runs from 6/10/2024 through 6/16/2024 at 11:59:59 pm ET (the “Bonus Period”), Member will earn a one-time bonus of up to 1,000 MileagePlus bonus award miles on qualifying purchases made through the MileagePlus Shopping mall or from purchases made through MileagePlus Shopping in-store offers.
- This one-time bonus award will be based on Member’s cumulative qualifying purchases made during the Bonus Period using one of the following tiers: Tier 1 bonus: 500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $200; or Tier 2 bonus: 1,000 miles for qualifying purchases of $400 or more.
- “Qualifying purchases” do not include returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card or other cash equivalent purchases, and certain products that are not eligible for bonus miles. Please see the MileagePlus Shopping mall site for details on product eligibility and other restrictions.
- Please allow up to 10 weeks after the Bonus Period for bonus award miles to post to your MileagePlus Shopping account.
- The Tier 2 bonus provides the maximum number of miles that will be awarded.
Quick Thoughts
The Southwest portal is the one that’ll give you the most bang for your buck. Not only does it have the lowest spending requirement of the three, but it also means that if you spend exactly $100 you’ll be earning 10x bonus points on top of the portal’s standard earnings. The Southwest shopping portal tends to have fairly poor earning rates compared to other shopping portals, but if your purchase will be $100+, there’s a good chance that the 1,000 bonus miles will make it the most rewarding option.
The United portal could be worth checking out, particularly if you’ll be shopping in-store at any of the retailers where you can earn miles by paying with a linked card.
For those seeking AAdvantage status, the American Airlines portal promo might be of interest. However, be aware that spending $200 will earn you 500 bonus miles but won’t earn you 500 bonus Loyalty Points.
I combined it with the 10% off $100 Egift cards at giftcards.com.
Did these track already? If so, you should earn the bonuses from these promos even if you don’t earn base miles/points. The VGC deal is non-commissionable, so I wasn’t sure if they’d track initially or not.
They did track (and post to AA) even though the code wasn’t listed on the AA portal.
Good to know – thanks!
Mine did not track with WN or UA when using the 10% codes. Didn’t try AA
