Quick Thoughts
AmexGiftCard.com is offering waived purchase fees on both physical and digital cards through November 3 when using promo code SHOPEARLY24. Provided you can liquidate them easily, buying the digital gift cards will be the best option because that way you can avoid the shipping fee that comes with the physical cards in order to make a total of up to $40 profit.
There are apparently other versions of this offer requiring more spend but also giving higher statement credit amounts, so check your cards to see which – if any – version you have.
[…] American Express Offers has $20-$50 off of $300-$750 in gift cards at amexgiftcard.com, and you can combine this with promo code SHOPEARLY24 for free shipping. As usual, the main use for these is shifting spend, but of course gamers gonna game. (Thanks to Stephen at FM) […]
I had exactly the offer mentioned here. Bought two GCs in separate transactions, although I did get an Amex fraud department call when I submitted the second one.
Just purchased the $300 offer to get $20 back. Tried buying hilton points with the 100% bonus buy keeps declining the card. Anybody know why this may be happening?
There is a hold on the card for up to a dollar, so you can never use the card fully from my understanding due to the hold.
I had the one above in my account yesterday. I couldn’t decide whether to add it. Logged back in today and it was gone, replaced by the one with the higher spend requirement ($750 GC get $50 back). Weird. Also, will these purchases earn rewards for cobrand cards (e.g. Hilton points)? If not, it does not seem worth it.
Has anyone been able to use these gcs? Seems from other sites that it’s quite hard to use them
Also wondering if this could be used to meet sign up bonus spend requirements.
easy answer is NO. it’s extremely risky to buy GCs as part of sub spend requirement
I’m in the same boat too. Just got my Business plat this week and see an offer for $50 off of $750 x2.
Wonder why Amex would target me for this offer if they didn’t want me to be making this purchase. If I made other Visa/MC preloaded card purchase, it would make sense why Amex would be against it. But this seems to be a direct invitation for me to do it from Amex.
I got the higher one:
Earn a $50 statement credit after using your enrolled eligible Business Card to spend a minimum of $750 in one or more purchases online at amexgiftcard.com by 12/31/2024. Limit of 2 statement credits (total of $100). See terms.
same
does the purchase earn MR’s?
Presumably not. I think amex has coded that sites ostensibly selling GCs is excluded from MR earning.
You are correct. I tried this earlier and gift card yielded zero MR points.
Good input. Thanks
Do these GC purchases count towards spend to meet sign up bonus?
Have this one and spend $700 get $50 back. Anyone have any tips on how to use up these gift cards? Assuming I couldn’t use them to buy fee free gift cards from staples.
Preloading my Amazon account has been my go to move for using up credit card gift cards from various promos/rebates.
I mean if that’s your only option. I can easily get Amazon GCs for 10+% off the face value.
where?
no, you can’t usually use gift cards to buy gift cards. The transaction will automatically decline at the vast majority of merchants.
