Bilt’s Rent Day promotion for August is already live and is being marketed as giving 100% savings when adding a second guest to your cruise. In reality, the savings are substantially less because Virgin Voyages is already giving a 70% discount, but if you were planning on booking a paid Virgin Voyages cruise anyway then the additional savings – and some perks that come with the promo – could still be worthwhile.

Quick Thoughts

A BOGO cruise deal sounds great and, to be fair, this promotion does indeed give you 100% off a second guest before taxes and fees. Your savings aren’t actually that high though because Virgin Voyages is already running a somewhat similar promotion but with a discount that’s slightly smaller.

When doing a little bit of research into this promotion, I checked the pricing for the Grand Turk, Puerto Plata & Bimini from November 15-21, 2024. When booked with Virgin Voyages without taking advantage of the Bilt promotion, it priced out at $3,010.

Virgin Voyages price for regular booking

With Bilt advertising a 100% discount on the second passenger, I’d assumed the price when using promo code VVBILT would be $1,500 or thereabouts. That wasn’t the case though; instead, it priced out only 20% cheaper at $2,410.

Virgin Voyages price for Bilt booking

The reason for that is because Virgin Voyages is running its own promotion right now giving 70% off a second guest. Their $3,010 takes that into account, so using Bilt’s promo code only takes off the remaining 30% cost of the second guest which, for this cruise, is $600 due to the $2,000 initial cost.

Ultimately though, that’s still a $600 discount which is a substantial saving. You’ll also then get a bunch of extra perks like complimentary premium internet (Virgin Voyages come with complimentary standard internet by default), a $100 bar tab credit, complimentary laundry and more. For anyone planning a paid Virgin Voyages cruise, this promo is worth being aware of, although you have to book by Thursday August 1. Seeing as the booking is done on the Virgin Voyages website rather than via Bilt’s app, you can use the promo code even if you’re not a Bilt Rewards member.

One aspect of this offer that is buried in the T&Cs is that BILT members can apply those same benefits (upgraded wifi, $100 credit, etc) to ANY Virgin Voyages booking — not just the cruises that are covered by the 100% off second person offer — as long as they do so at least 14 days prior to sailing. There is a very short form on the BILT site that you have to submit after booking your cruise. You’ll need your booking number for the form. I did this for two upcoming VV cruises I had already booked. I haven’t received acknowledgment that it has been applied to my bookings yet, but it has only been a few days. Will report back when/if I do get the word on this!

What is the status of your Submission?

Mary

Sorry, forgot to post. I never received anything from Virgin Voyages, and the benefits were not applied. I did online chat with a Virgin rep and they said I didn’t qualify. Their internal documents (which they quoted) said the promotion gives only BILT Platinum members the full VV Deep Blue Extras benefits. As a BILT Blue member, I only qualify for the lesser VV Blue Extras, which I already had through a status match. So it was all a waste of everyone’s time, because they didn’t make any of this clear in their public T&Cs.

Justin

How can you tell if it’s been applied to your account? A free coffee per day and a free load of laundry are still helpful.

Mary

If you log into their website and click on My Voyages, then Go to Voyage Home, then find the light yellow line that says Add-ons: Enjoy these onboard this voyage, then “view details,” it will show Blue Extras.
