This is a quick followup to my previous post: Considering a bizarro mattress run. In that post I wrote that I was considering booking a cheap one night Marriott stay for the sole purpose of triggering the Double Take promo so that I would earn double points on my next trip.
I did. And it worked.
The Double Take promo only offers double points after your first stay during the promo period (between March 19 and June 4). After my one night stay, the Double Take promo showed that one more stay was needed:
I figured that this meant that my second stay would earn double points. And it did. You can see below that I earned 10,304 Extra points. 9,304 points were from the Double Take promo and 1,000 were from accepting 1,000 points as a welcome gift upon check in:
The primary reason for publishing this followup is that some readers were told by Marriott reps that a multi-night stay was required in order to start the Double Take promo rolling. This is proof that that’s not true. A one night stay is enough.
DP: Thanks to your other post, I also did a bizarro mattress run, but here’s the DP: I did it WHILE CURRENTLY CHECKED IN to another Marriott stay! I was in the middle of a 12 night stay at one hotel, and stayed just one night at another (checked out of the one night stay a few days before the long stay was over), and got the bonus points for the 12 night stay!
I think because my short stay completed first it triggered the 2x for the other stay! It was a gamble but worth it in the long run!
Awesome. Bizarro x 10. I’m amazed that worked!
