Last year Choice Privileges launched a series of college gameday deals where you could redeem their hotel points for tickets to football, basketball and hockey games. Some of those packages provided incredible value, with the Visa gift cards you received alone being worth more than the value of the points you were redeeming.

They now have some new VIP experiences available for four different NASCAR Cup races. While those packages don’t include Visa gift cards and so aren’t offering spectacular value in the same way, for a NASCAR fan the experience could be well worth the redemption, especially seeing as you can transfer Citi ThankYou points on a 1:2 basis with Choice.

Choice Privileges NASCAR redemption

The Deal

  • Redeem 115,000 Choice Privileges points for a VIP experience at the following NASCAR Cup races:
    • Hampton, GA
    • Las Vegas, NV
    • Avondale, AZ
    • Bristol, TN
  • Direct link to offer.

Key Terms

  • All experiences are available on a first-come first-serve basis. These experiences are only available to members of the Choice Privileges® Rewards Program who have the required number of Choice Privileges Rewards points in their account. Once redeemed the member will receive a confirmation email from Choice Privileges and within 48 hours of redemption, Trackhouse will contact the member with more information and any participation requirements. You (and any guests, if applicable) must be 18 or older to participate and you must provide a government-issued ID upon request.
  • Selected members (“Winners”) will receive the experience and redeem the listed amount of points for that experience, which generally range from a minimum of 50,000 to a maximum of 115,000 Choice Privilege points. The number of points required varies depending upon the experience chosen. The experiences must be taken (used) on the dates stated for that experience, which generally range from February 2024-April 2024.
  • Winners may not transfer experience (or any aspect thereof) to other individuals, are not redeemable for cash, and may not be substituted for any other experience or Choice Privileges Reward, absent Choice’s prior written consent. The actual experience may differ from any promotional images. All federal, state, and other tax liabilities arising from winning an experience are the sole responsibility of the Winner.

Quick Thoughts

I’m a Formula 1 fan rather than a NASCAR fan, so these packages don’t appeal to me despite having enough Choice points to book one of these packages. That said, this does seem like a great opportunity for some who is into NASCAR.

The VIP experiences at all four races provide the following:

  • (2) VIP tickets with access to garage and pit road
  • Grandstand access
  • Tour of Trackhouse garage and pit road
  • Meet and greet with pit crew and drivers
  • Pre-race hospitality with food and drink

I’ve tried looking into what cash pricing would be for an experience like this at a couple of races, but haven’t been able to find something directly comparable. However, it does look like you’d ordinarily be looking at paying more than $500 per person – if not far more – for a similar experience, so redeeming 115,000 Choice points can be excellent value.

Don’t forget that Citi ThankYou points transfer to Choice on a 1:2 basis, so that’s only 58,000 ThankYou points you’d need to transfer. That’s effectively a Citi Premier welcome offer right now, so one way of looking at the value is if you’d apply for a credit card that offered this NASCAR experience for two as the signup bonus. It won’t be for everyone, but for a big NASCAR fan it certainly could be.

Starwood had bidding for similar packages for Bristol about 6 years ago. 30k or so points for that one was a winner, I think? Very similar but also included a few laps in pace car (on a 35 degree bank, nonetheless) and victory lane access. Kyle Busch swept that weekend and I got a pic with Joe Gibbs. Really cool experience.

Be warned if you were to choose Bristol, decent hotels are in very short supply in the tri cities, and the choice hotels go for $300+ a night when they’re worth $50. Nothing like you can find in ATL, Vegas, or Phoenix
