No Mas Coach is reporting a great business class fare sale on LATAM to cities in South America — with prices starting from just $1099 round trip (from New York to Guayaquil, Ecuador) and from Miami to Bogota, Lima, and Rio de Janeiro each under $1300 round trip.

The Deal

  • Business Class fair sale on LATAM (that’s LAN and TAM) from $648 to $1298 round trip on select routes (pictured above)

Key Details

  • Sale ends August 30th
  • As with all fare sales, not all days of the week are available and while the sale ends August 30th, inventory may book up sooner

Their 787 looks pretty nice (you’ll want to check your route to be sure you’ve got lie-flat seating).

Lots of availability

As this is a published sale, the availability is excellent, with some of these fares available more days than not through the end of the schedule. Here is a look at the Google Flights calendar view in October and November between New York and Guayaquil:

And as you can see, even on the days when the low fare is more, it’s only $4-$26 more. In fact, Copa and American are pricing pretty closely on many days:

Ecuador

The fare that first caught my eye was Guayaquil. While most people will hear “Ecuador” and immediately think “Galapagos”, I actually spent about nine months in Ecuador without visiting the Galapagos (I certainly plan to get back there someday!). Ecuador is fairly small and it is very cheap to travel the country via bus, enabling you to see just about anything you’d like no matter where you land. What I think makes Ecuador really interesting is the variety of experiences you can have in a short time. Whether you want to enjoy a sunset on the beach, zip lining and feeding butterflies in the cloud forest, hiking in the mountains, or rafting in the rainforest, you can do a little bit of everything. Forgive the quality of the photos — they were taken eight or nine years ago with a cheap point & shoot.

Continue on to Lima, La Paz, or Santa Cruz de la Sierra or make Guayaquil a stopover

Interestingly, the price is identical if you continue on to Lima, or a couple hundred dollars more to La Paz or Santa Cruz in Bolivia.

If you have time for a multi-destination trip, stopover in Guayaquil on the way for less than fifty bucks more.

If you decide to tag on a trip to Machu Picchu on a separate ticket, you may want to take a look at the Spanish-language version of the LATAM site. I have not checked lately, but years ago I saved almost 30% on a LAN flight between Lima and Cuzco by booking in Spanish. If you have the chance, I can’t recommend Machu Picchu strongly enough. The scenery is breathtaking.

Bottom line

This is a nice airfare sale to South America. No Mas Coach has the details on which flights can be credited to Alaska Mileage Plan and what you’ll earn if you credit to American. As this is a published sale, you are likely to find these fares available through any of your chosen booking portals. While I highlighted Ecuador and Peru above, the fare from Miami to Rio is surely a standout as well at just $1298 round trip. Google Flights is very convenient for checking availability as well as adding on stopovers for a multi-destination itinerary. See How to find great business class fares with Google Flights for more information on how to use the map feature and see multiple destinations.
