Update 8/8/23: Now that former Radisson Rewards Americas properties are bookable through Choice, Choice has added a number of those properties to the current batch of Sweet Spot Rewards.

That includes the Radisson RED Minneapolis Downtown for 20,000 points per night (normally 30,000), Radisson Blu Fargo for 25,000 points (normally 35,000), Radisson Blu Aqua Chicago for 30,000 points (normally 35,000), Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel Scranton for 12,000 points (normally 20,000) and more.

It’s particularly interesting seeing them discount the Radisson Blu Aqua Chicago as those rooms are retailing for almost $1,000 per night this summer, so redeeming 30,000 Choice Privileges points – or only 15,000 Citi ThankYou points if you have a Premier or Prestige card – is a great deal.

Every few months Choice Privileges runs an award sale at a couple of dozen or so properties. This feature is called Sweet Spot Rewards and the latest set of participating properties have been revealed and are bookable for stays through September 15, 2023.

Quick Thoughts

This latest set of Sweet Spot Rewards has quite few interesting properties.

The Cambria Inn Sonoma Wine Country is well-positioned for vinous delights, has very good reviews and is bookable for only 20,000 points per night for most of the Summer (reduced from 30,000).

July-September isn’t my favorite time of the year to go to Fort Lauderdale, but another well-reviewed Cambria is right on the beach and has ocean-view rooms for 20,000 points a night (down from 25,000).

If you dig gambling weekends, the L’Auberge Resort in Lake Charles, LA is selling rooms on weekend nights that have a cash rate of $400+ for 20,000 points (normal is 30,000).

There’s other nice-looking properties on the list in the Berkshires, New Orleans, Asheville (NC) and Pigeon Forge, TN.

There are a few non-US properties too, with two in Canada, one in Italy and one in the Czech Republic. The Clarion Prague Old Town looks like a particularly good value as it has a greaet location right in the city center and rooms that are selling for ~$150/nights are only 8,000 points all Summer.

Remember that Citi ThankYou points transfer to Choice on a 1:2 basis if you have a Citi Premier or Prestige card. That means that a property costing 20,000 points per night would only cost 10,000 ThankYou points per night when transferred.

There was a property I saw for 20K per night this morning, now it’s 30K per night. So, hurry!

Ben

Is there a post highlighting the best/most unique raddison properties?

I know many folks may not have it as a destination, but the Radisson Blu in Fargo is outstanding. No pool, but just a fantastic hotel and right in downtown Fargo which has fantastic places to eat/drink. Also, not that far from NDSU if wanting to go to a football game. (not super close, but not across town, either…..) This is the area ESPN Gameday broadcasted the 2 times they went to Fargo.

Help! The considerable points in my Radisson account have not yet transferred over to my Choice account. I understood that this would happen automatically in mid-July. There is no longer access to the Radisson account. (In June I successfully moved 1000 points from Choice to Radisson and was told my accounts are properly linked.) Any data points / success regarding this merger of points?

Ken

Same problem for my wife. She didn’t make a Choice account, and now her points are in limbo. Can’t create a new account because Choice says she has an account, but the lost password says she doesn’t have an account. And they said all info must match Radisson account. So stuck.

Christian

Discounting them is one thing but have you checked availability? Last time I checked the Radisson in Chicago is had no availability for months out.

Kim

I had to check if “vinous” was an actual word. (I should known better than to challenge a vintner’s vocabulary.) I like Sonoma much more than Napa and have NOT ever been to a winery in Washington state, just smaller ones in Virginia. Can you describe your vineyard in terms that I would understand? Oh, and also, when are you inviting all of us to your winery? Cheers!

Matthew

Nice to know this. I wasn’t aware or forgot. I think Choice is a really good program. I almost got amazing value in Rome during the G8 a couple years ago. Everything was sold out or crazy expensive and 1 room left at the hotel in the center of Rome. Unfortunately Citi’s TY transfers kept failing and they weren’t able to fix by phone. So I wasn’t able to book. Ended up staying in Florence longer and booked the Waldorf using FNAs.
