The Citi ThankYou Premier card has devalued its program a bit by getting rid of flight points, removing annual point bonuses, and lowering the airfare redemption value from 1.33 cents per point to 1.25 cents per point.  On the other hand, they’ve added bonus categories:

  • 3X Dining and Entertainment (note that the Citi Forward card offers 5X here)
  • 2X Airfare and Hotels

Citi is now offering a two-stage 50K signup bonus, as follows:

  • First year: 20K bonus points after $2K spend in the first 3 months
  • Second year: 30K bonus points after $3K spend in the first 3 months of year 2

First year annual fee is waived.  Second year annual fee ($125) is not waived.

Hi, can you already have a TY Preferred card and then apply for the Premier to get the 50K bonus?

Maggie

Have you heard of any 50K preferred or premier for this year spend cards coming available in the near future?

Frequent Miler

I’m not really sure what you’re asking here, but no I don’t know of any other new offers on their way

Is the card churnable? If it is, then how much time to wait after canceling the first card? Also, is it possible to have both a Citi Forward and a Thank You Premier?

Frequent Miler

I don’t know about it’s churnability. Yes you can have both cards.
