Citi ThankYou removing Aeromexico as transfer partner on 1/25/26

3

Last month, Citi announced that Aeromexico would be removed as a ThankYou Rewards transfer partner with effect from January 25, 2026.

You therefore have less than a week if you wish to transfer your ThankYou points there, but it’s not really recommendable.

Note that the ending of the partnership takes effect from January 25, so the last day to actually transfer will be January 24.

This isn’t a great redemption option though. Aeromexico’s loyalty program has very few sweet spots, not to mention the fact that American Express Membership Rewards transfer to Aeromexico at a far superior 1,000:1,600 ratio.

Aeromexico is not a good program anyway. The taxes and fees and other surcharges the Mexican government imposes make transferring points to Aeromexico pointless.

There are some sweet spots.

Example 100k from Southern South America to Europe via MEX, or even 100k from South America to Mexico City or anywhere in MEX in J at 1:1.6 with Amex thats a solid 62.5k points, when Amex did a promo 1:1.92 it came out to 52k.

They also beat Delta quite a bit on their own metal, I’ve seen Mexico to US flights in J for 25-40k in J but at 1:1.6 with Amex it isn’t bad. But their best deals are almost exclusively on their own metal and mainly just MEX GRU MEX EZE MEX SCL and so on.
