Delta has launched a new award sale that’s valid on round trip flights to destinations worldwide. Some of the highlights include round trip flights to Asia from as low as 30k SkyMiles round trip and flights to Europe from 32k SkyMiles round trip.

Quick Thoughts
This award sale has the potential to provide some great value for your SkyMiles. For example, you can redeem just 30,000 SkyMiles + $45 for a round trip flight from San Diego to Taipei in basic economy with excellent availability.
On dates that I checked, those same flights would cost ~$1,100 which is a rare opportunity to get significantly more than 1cpp (cent per point) of value from your SkyMiles.
You won’t always get such good value with this award sale though. For example, you can fly round trip from New York to Amsterdam for 32,000 SkyMiles + $101.
That might not seem like a bad price on the face of it, but those same flights can be booked for $406 round trip. Taking off the $101 in taxes and fees, you’re effectively redeeming 32,000 miles to save $305 which is less than 1cpp of value.
If you have a Delta credit card, remember that you get a 15% discount on award flights which can make this award sale even better. This sale is due to end on Thursday October 10, so there’s only a couple of days left to book.

A good argument to have AMEX points around to transfer to Delta whenever they have one of these unpredictable award sales that you might want to use. But not sure why anyone would try to accumulate Delta miles directly, give their poor everyday value.
Just a heads up–as with a lot of the flash sales, the deals are not limited to the examples provided. We found that many of our upcoming flights have gone down in price. Rebooking saved us thousands of SkyMiles!
Also NYC-TPE (transfer at SEA) OW for 27k, before credit card 15% discount. Unfortunately prices shoot up very quickly for the dates I need. When you look at the cash rate it may not be very good deals. Lots of off-peak NYC-CDG for $365, RT, for example, and this redemption wouldn’t even yield 1 cpm.

The fact that Basic Economy is an option on miles is absurd. But it’s Delta, so par for the course.
Good sale, but definitely not travel anytime. There is a restricted range of dates listed.
Limited cities and limited dates, from BOS nothing to Paris , one week to AMS or LHR. Rates advertised are for Basic Economy, main cabin costs are higher.
