Delta has launched a flash sale offering one way nonstop tickets in first class between New York and San Salvador from only 6,000 SkyMiles. Similar tickets are available between Los Angeles and San Salvador from 8,000 SkyMiles.
The Deal
- Book one way nonstop tickets between New York and San Salvador in first class on Delta from only 6,000 SkyMiles each way.
Quick Thoughts
If you have any interest in visiting El Salvador, it could be worth booking ASAP as there’s no indication as to how long this Delta flash sale will last and you can cancel without penalty and have the SkyMiles redeposited to your account.
Tickets are bookable from only 6,000 SkyMiles between New York and San Salvador. While there isn’t a huge amount of availability at the 6,000 pricing from August to October, there are many dates in the 6,000-7,000 range which are all great value. Note that the low award pricing goes beyond October, so check dates that work for you in case you want to travel later this year or early next year.
It’s not only flights to San Salvador that are pricing out this low. There’s plenty of availability at this pricing for the return flight to the US.
Something worth noting is that despite these being first class flights, you won’t be in a lie-flat bed on non-stop routes. Still, only 6,000 SkyMiles for a flight that lasts 5.5 hours in first class is still a very good deal.
Similar flights are available from LAX in first class from 8,000 SkyMiles, with about half of the days from mid-September to mid-October having availability in the 8,000-9,000 price range.
As mentioned earlier, it’d be best to book ASAP and cancel later if you change your mind because it’s unlikely that this pricing will last for very long.
Novice question. How do I view these award charts? I’ve been googling and it’s been taking me to TPG articles but they don’t seem to show me what I’m looking for.
Delta no longer has award charts, so there’s no set price for award flights anymore.
No, but I remember Trump doing it.
Trump did do it, so did delta. Lookup #boycottdelta on google.
Are we talking about the same El Salvador lol
Yes the beautiful central american country that is well worth visiting! I loved it!
Would I earn EQM’s on this fare (8k miles + $6 taxes)?
Would this fare be able to get the Medallion Accelerator bonuses?
Thx.
Yes it would earn MQMs and receive the 2021 special bonuses mentioned here: https://frequentmiler.com/shortcuts-to-delta-elite-status-in-2021/#Class_of_Service_Bonuses_MQMs
By my calculation this round trip to San Salvador from NYC would earn around 11k MQMs.
