Delta SkyMiles is running a flash sale with Delta One between a number of US Cities and Tokyo, including in A350 suites, on sale from 90K SkyMiles round trip. With the coronavirus situation in Asia causing a dip in demand, it isn’t surprising to see a sale nor do I expect that this sale will appeal to all readers. However, when I received this deal via email from Thrifty Traveler Premium and saw that 90K round trip pricing was holding into June, I thought it was worth posting for those who will still travel and/or those with elite status who get free change or cancellation fees if they decide not to go.

Quick Thoughts
Recent news coverage out of Japan has obviously centered on the Diamond Princess and I’m not personally planning any 2020 travel to Asia, but to each his or her own in terms of how, where, and when to travel. For those looking to visit Japan this spring for Cherry Blossom season or early this summer, it’s hard to beat 90K miles round trip in business class. The only cheaper round trip option to Asia in business class of which I’m aware is flying ANA.
The A350 and A330neo fly with Delta One Suites out of Seattle and you can find itineraries connecting in Seattle that originate in quite a few other cities. Here was Los Angeles to Tokyo:
Flagship A350 Delta One suites are indeed available out of Seattle at that price:
You can find similar pricing out of San Diego, Seattle, and several other west coast cities.
There are even some dates as low as 100K SkyMiles round trip out of New York City, though in this example it is connecting through Portland and thus will not feature suites.
You can easily go to Delta.com and enter search criteria and then hit “price calendar” to look at a range of dates.
Overall, these deals are about as good as it gets in terms of using Delta miles to fly on Delta Airlines. Obviously the timing is difficult, but for those looking to travel to Japan during the included time frame this is a solid deal.
[…] opportunities still out there. For example, they run flash sales every so often, like this one for Delta One (fantastic product by the way!) for 90,000 Sky Miles – Note, I don’t believe you get Nick’s cool hat with the flight, so plan […]
I assumed I’d be able to snag this deal (or something close to it) connecting *through* the mentioned cities from nearby SJC or SFO, but the award prices shown are 3-5x as high 🙁
Is this something where I might have better luck calling in? I mean, in a worst case, I could do positioning flights via Southwest, but that’s kinda annoying.
Oh, and I forgot to mention… thank you for highlighting this deal. Pretty amazing price with native-skypesos, even with the current virus situation!
This was definitely available from SLC and SFO three other day when we posted it. However, flash sales this good usually last hours, not days. Since we posted this on Friday, I wouldn’t be surprised if many seats are gone and/or it is no longer available. Calling in won’t help – the price you see online is the price you’ll get over the phone.
Delta starts flying HND-PDX and other routes starting 4/2020! I saw one fares for 19000 miles direct flight! Taxes are only 50$
This is a sweet deal, but unfortunately Coronavirus is all over the news continuously. It just a matter of time before it reaches here in the U.S..The news now is that South Korea is becoming another Wuhan and there are no flight restrictions to/from S.Korea…..this getting very ugly!
Folks, this is a phenomenal deal; I’d be all over this if I wasn’t out of vacation….the entire coronavirus situation will likely be contained or over in May/June, and tough to find fares this low.
Nick, 114K for MSP/TYO rt. Solid deal even at that price. BTW, when i add Sioux Falls flights, price jumps to 280K for the best price…. LOL, delta and their lack of award charts hoping to swindle uniformed bookers……
You broke Delta’s website…search started crashing within minutes of when you posted this
