The Capital One Travel portal has an extremely generous (but targeted) offer awarding 20x miles on your first hotel booking through the platform.

Quick Thoughts
Booking a hotel stay through the Capital One Travel portal means that you won’t earn points in the hotel’s own loyalty program, nor receive elite night credits, status benefits, etc.
Despite that, this offer is so generous that it could be worth forgoing all of those in order to earn 20x transferable miles. For example, let’s say you need to book a stay at a brand like Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn where complimentary breakfast is included and room upgrades are likely to be minimal. Earning 20x Capital One miles could potentially more than offset the loss of hotel point earnings, shopping portal cashback, etc. If you’re booking a stay at an independent property where status benefits, points earnings, etc. would be moot, this offer becomes even more compelling.
Note that you only earn 20x on the portion paid for with cash in excess of any credits. If you have a Venture X card that comes with a $300 credit valid on Capital One Travel bookings and are planning on redeeming that towards your stay, you’ll only earn 20x on the room rate value above $300, or however much of the travel credit you have left.
You can earn a maximum of 50,000 miles through this promotion which means it’s good on a hotel stay costing up to $2,500 before taxes and fees. The 20x is the total you’ll earn – it’s not 20x on top of the already up-to-10x rate you’re already eligible for through the portal. It’s also only valid on your first booking; if you cancel that stay and book a different stay, you won’t earn 20x on that replacement reservation.
This is a targeted offer for people who’ve not booked stays through the portal before. To see if you’re targeted, log in to your Capital One Travel account and in the top-right corner on desktop you’ll see an icon with a number in a red circle.
Click on that and it’ll take you to your offers on the travel portal. You’ll likely see quite a few hotel offers for specific destinations; if you’re targeted for this 20x offer, it’s that page where you’ll see the details.

Important note, I was told the 20x credit would be applied within 45 days of me completing the stay I booked (not til May). Oddly enough, the credit card charge earned my 5x back on my Venture already. So maybe in June I’ll get the remainder?
I spent a little under a thousand dollars on my first hotel booking on Capital One Travel portal in early February for a stay in June. My 5x miles posted 1 day later. 15x more miles (thus 20x total) posted 13 days later.
