Expedia Amex Offer: 10% back on prepaid hotels

0

There’s a new Amex Offer out good for 10% back at Expedia (up to $100 back). Expedia typically runs some excellent offers over the Black Friday / Cyber Monday weekend, so this could be a good stack with some of those. However, note this will only work on prepaid hotel bookings.

The Deal

  • A new Amex Offer is out that’s good for 10% back (up to $100 total in statement credits) at Expedia.com

Terms and Conditions

  • Expires 12/19/24
  • Valid only for pre-paid hotel bookings
  • The terms indicate that you must book through expedia.com/amex, but in the past that wasn’t necessary (and we even heard that it was triggered by bookings through hotels.com)

Quick Thoughts

I strongly prefer flexibility over prepaid rates. However, even though this only supposed to work on hotel reservations that are paid in advance, it might not be a bad deal. The last few years, Expedia has run something like a 90% off sale on Black Friday and Cyber Monday where certain (mostly non-chain) hotels were available at steep discounts for a short window. The best part is that the discount typically applies to any room type. Stacking with this offer would make that kind of deal even better.

Since you’re booking through Expedia, you’ll be forgoing the ability to receive status benefits, points earnings, elite night credit earnings, etc. Because of that, this offer is better when those factors aren’t important to you.

The terms state that you have to book at expedia.com/amex. That link goes to a landing page specifically for Amex cardholders. In the past, we’ve had reports that these Expedia deals trigger regardless of whether or not you use that link, but it’s always possible that it might actually be required to trigger the statement credit.

That said, it’s worth trying to earn rewards through a shopping portal anyway. What’ll give you the best chance of doing that is to click through to Expedia from a portal, then copying and pasting the expedia.com/amex link into the address bar. There’s no guarantee that’ll work, but it has for other types of offers in the past.
