National Car Rental and Enterprise have announced the opportunity for members to extend elite status again this year with just one rental. The nice thing here is that it will be possible to extend your status even if you’ve already completed a rental at some point in 2022.
The Deal
- National Emerald Club and Enterprise Plus members with elite status can have their status extended until February 28, 2024 if they complete or have completed a single rental during 2022. This will happen automatically for National Emerald Club members, but Emerald Plus members will need to register for the current Plus Your Points promotion to get the extension with one 2022 rental.
Quick Thoughts
National Emerald Club and Enterprise Plus are both offering members the chance to extend elite status until February 28, 2024 with just one 2022 rental — though there is a key nuance in the differing requirements to qualify for the extension.
National’s Emerald Club Executive and Executive Elite members whose status was set to expire on February 28, 2023 will have their elite status extended until February 28, 2024 if those members made or make at least one qualifying rental by the end of 2022. In other words, if you have National elite status and you have already made a rental this year, you should be automatically extended until February 2024. If you haven’t yet made a rental, just rent once before the end of 2022 to get your extension. Furthermore, free rental days previously set to expire on Dec. 31, 2022, will roll over through Sept. 4, 2023.
Enterprise customers get a very similar deal, except that Emerald Plus members must register for the current “Plus Your Points” promotion to get the extension. Register for Plus Your Points here. Note that you’ll get an extension if you have rented during 2022 or you complete a rental before the end of 2022, but you must register for the current double points promotion in order to qualify for the extension. That’s the key distinction between the extension from National (which does not require registration) and the extension from Enterprise.
Does an Enterprise rental count for extending National Emerald status or does it have to be with National directly?
does the rental have to made or completed by dec 31, 2022 in order to qualify?
“complete or have completed a single rental during 2022”
Completed.
I’m considering this – what’s the best way to handle a “throw-away” 1-day rental? Just show up, sign the contract and tell them you want to pay just for the status (without even touching the car)? Or is it best to drive the car around the block first?
Noticed the extension on matched status over the weekend. Didn’t realize the free days were extended as well – oh well, used those over the weekend.
No email but looking today and I’m extended
While I’m glad they value their loyal customers I can’t help but wonder what they saw from last year’s performance or what they see in the coming year that made them think they needed to do this…
I received an email 3 days ago from National stating that my status was automatically extended until Feb 28, 2024
