If you’re interested in getting a new Southwest credit card, you might be able to get an even better welcome offer by applying for it on a Southwest flight.
When visiting Hawaii last month and flying intra-island on Southwest, I noticed that they had a welcome offer giving 65,000 bonus Rapid Rewards points when getting the Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus or Premier cards, with Nick noticing the same thing when flying from Florida to New York yesterday.
The current best offers for those cards award 50,000 bonus points, so earning 65,000 bonus points when meeting the minimum spend requirements is a great offer by comparison.
There’s just one catch though – you have to be connected to Southwest’s in-flight Wi-Fi in order to apply for these increased welcome offers. If you try visiting the application page URL after your flight, you’ll simply get a message stating that the offer has expired. Strictly speaking that’s not true as the offer is still available – it’s just that your ability to obtain the offer has ended as you’re no longer connected to Southwest’s in-flight Wi-Fi.
If you’ve been planning on applying for one of these cards though and have a Southwest flight coming up soon, it might be worth waiting until your flight to apply for the card.
Especially- if you don’t have a P2 with the SW card (20K referral).
I am curious if it was just Personal cards
Almost have the $15K toward CP met – silver lining $6k of unplanned spend.
Eldest daughter car was totalled in Dec after being rear-ended. She is still in pain and treatment, and the total loss settlement fmade her whole plus some after paying off her loan (10 months left @1.99%) is the truly sad part as she loved the car and almost was car payment free. Ended up with a 2025 Hybrid SUV lease 33 months money factor was equivalent to ±3.29% APR.
Downpayment, fees, etc Dealer allowed $5K no swipe fees. 🙂
37,000 MR and 4,556 RR earned from the $6K (from an upgrade bonus and Biz Plat SUB from the spend.
