If you need to book a paid stay at any of Marriott’s brands, it might be worth booking ASAP as Ebates is offering 12% cashback on Marriott reservations.
The Deal
- Earn 12% cashback with Ebates when making reservations at Marriott brands.
- Direct link.
Key Terms
- Expiry date unknown.
Quick Thoughts
12% cashback for Marriott bookings is exceptional. In fact, the highest cashback rate over the last 15 months was 10%. Those 10% rates were all through Ebates too and only lasted a day. That means there’s a good chance you have less than 12 hours left to take advantage of this high rate.
Most of Marriott’s brands are listed at 12% too – JW Marriott, SpringHill Suites, Courtyard, etc. The SPG brands aren’t listed on Ebates, but you’d hopefully be able to earn 12% nonetheless when clicking through to the Marriott website and making a reservation.
One of the nice features of the 12% rate is that it seems to be a flat rate regardless of whether or not you’re a member of Marriott Rewards or length of stay. For example, BeFrugal offers 5% for non-member reservations but only 3% for members of Marriott Rewards. Top Cashback usually has a similar setup, but they’re currently offering 8% for reservations of 3+ nights and 5% for 1-2 night bookings.

I don’t see this will work for brands that have not been migrated to Marriott.com booking engine, i.e. St Regis, Lux Collections, etc. They are still living on starwood.com. (They won’t be complete the migration until late Nov/Dev)
Agreed. When I try to book a Starwood property, the eBates logo goes dim; if I try on a Marriott branded hotel, the eBates logo remains green and active.
However, if I go to the eBates site and type in Marriott to show the rebate amounts, it has the option to show all hotels in the country where I’ll be traveling and it clearly says “12% cash back” by this search button. Mixed messages, for sure…but based on what the eBates browser tool is doing at the Starwood sites, I’m betting those won’t qualify.

So, do you earn Marriott points when booking via eBates?
Yes you do

How does this work if I am reserving the rooms for next spring, but not pre-paying for the rooms? Normally I use my credit card to secure the rooms, but the hotel does not actually charge me by till I check out. If I book now through eBay’s for a stay next name, will I get the 12% cashback when the hotel runs my card next year?
Yes – it would track now and then pay the 12% cashback after your stay next year.

How do they verify the reservation isn’t cancelled / completed?
The cashback doesn’t get paid out until after your stay.
are you suggesting it is more valuable to book through Ebates instead of straight through the Marriott site? Aren’t you losing all the points you might gain?
seems like i’ve been seeing a huge advertising push recently for Ebates. Is it really that good of a deal?
12% on Marriott reservations is an excellent deal. Ebates doesn’t tend to have the highest rates most of the time though, so it’s always worth checking Cashback Monitor before making any online purchases to ensure you click through from the portal offering the most cashback.
You click through to Marriott from Ebates, so you still get all your points from Marriott, but you also earn 12% cashback on the room rate (before taxes) from Ebates.
Let’s say you book a 4 night stay costing a total of $500 before tax. You’d earn 5,000 Marriott Rewards points as your base earnings, 2,000 bonus points from their latest MegaBonus promotion if you’ve registered for it, additional bonus points if you have status with them as well as $60 cashback from Ebates.
