Quick Thoughts
This can obviously be a great deal, since saving $200 on a paid ticket is no chump change. It could also stack very well with this month’s Flying Blue Promo Rewards, which include flights to and from Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Austin.
For a family, award taxes and the moderate fuel surcharges added by Flying Blue can easily add up to north of $1,000, so this could also be used to take some sting out of those additional fees.
Do note the restriction on flight origin: terms dictate that flights must originate in the US and be charged in US dollars to qualify. I always find that mildly annoying since I prefer to book flights as one-ways and would rather book a one-way from Europe to the US — but I can’t do that with this offer since flights need to originate in the US.
Still, for those who will be booking trips with Air France / KLM, this could be a great deal.
Does Air France or KLM offer gift cards? 6/30 expiration is outside my acceptable window. This offer would be great to apply to award fees to my planned family of six trip to Europe in the summer of 2025, but the award calendar doesn’t open in time. Any ideas on how to time shift the benefit of this offer?
Can I book the flight through the Amex Travel portal to get 5x points and still receive the $200 back?
The KEY TERMS posted above clearly say no. Must book through official AF/KLM websites or their specific apps.
