Update 2/17/20: If you didn’t use this Chase Offer previously, you should now see its expiration date has been extended to February 21, 2020.
~
It’s worth taking a look at all the Chase Offers available on your cards as there are a couple of decent offers at the moment offering discounts of 15% at Hyatt House and Hyatt Place properties.
The Deal
- Earn 15% back when spending $100-$300 at Hyatt House or Hyatt Place hotels with targeted Chase Offers.
Key Terms
- Expires February
15,21, 2020. - $45 cash back maximum.
- Offer valid one time only.
- Complete payment for your stay must be made by February
15,21, 2020. - Offer only valid at Hyatt House.
- Payment must be made directly with the merchant.
Quick Thoughts
With a limit of $45 back as a statement credit, you’ll max out these offers when spending $300. Note that you have to spend at least $100 to trigger the offers, so it won’t work if you have a super-cheap one night stay.
It’s also important to note that there are separate Chase Offers for Hyatt House and Hyatt Place. The Hyatt House offer showed up on my wife’s Chase Sapphire Reserve card a few days ago, but Lucky at One Mile At A Time reports having a Hyatt Place offer too. It would’ve been nice to get the Hyatt Place offer on one of our cards as we checked in to a Hyatt Place last night, but we have a stash of Hyatt gift cards from their recent promo, so at least we’ll still get some savings.
Many Hyatt Places and Hyatt Houses sell gift cards at the front desk, so it should be possible to buy a $300 gift card to lock in the discount. Make sure they’ll issue you with a physical gift card though as their eGift cards are processed by Buyatab and so won’t trigger the Chase Offer.
What about if I choose the prepay rate on Hyatt’s website? Would that trigger chase offer? I have a stay at a hyatt house at the end of the month and I called them and they said they won’t charge my credit card until I’m there in person.
I think it would provided the payment is taken before the offer expires. It doesn’t work with Hilton Amex Offers, but I think Hyatt processes things differently. Booking the prepay rate though doesn’t guarantee that they’ll take payment immediately – I think I’ve had times where they don’t actually take payment until the stay.
Neither Hyatt House in Pittsburgh sells physical gift cards any longer. (They are owned by the same person.) Both told me to go to the Hyatt web site as the brand is moving away from physical cards and only selling e-cards. I bought Hyatt gift cards from them before when there were promotions. So, you might want to call ahead to see if they have gift cards around.
Was told the same thing. I did call ahead and they told me they do have gift cards, but when I arrived they had to call managers of managers to determine that they won’t be selling gift cards anymore.
Just to make sure I understand, I can book In May 2020, but have to make sure it is paid in full through Hyatt House on my credit card?
Yes, if you call the Hyatt House property you’ll be staying at in May and ask them to take payment now, that should work.
I got those offers on my chase Hyatt card….
Curious what you are doing with the gift cards. I was under the impression that they couldn’t be used for rooms.
You can certainly pay for your stay using gift cards if you’ve booked a rate where you pay at the hotel rather than prepay.
Hmmm… follow up question. Do you know if the hyatt points from gift cards purchased at the desk count towards base points total or as bonus points?
Neither when you buy them initially – you’ll earn points when you redeem them by paying for a stay.
And I think gift cards can only be used in the US right? It’s an interesting idea though and could be worth calling a few in your area to see if they stock physical gift cards before heading down to buy!
