Quick Thoughts

Many Amex Offers that are valid for hotel stays can save you up to 20%, so this Hyatt Regency offer is a welcome increase in that it can save you up to 33.33% on your stay.

What’s also welcome is the fact that this spending offer can be used at Hyatt Regency properties worldwide, rather than only at locations in the US. Based on the wording in the terms, it sounds like not every single Hyatt Regency property is eligible, but when checking the list here it does look like the list of eligible hotels is extensive.

This Amex Offer will be particularly useful if you were wanting to take advantage of this Hyatt promotion that can earn you up to 20,000 bonus points for Hyatt Regency stays in the US through November 23. If you were on the fence about whether to mattress run any nights to earn Globalist status before the end of the year, that promotion combined with this Amex Offer could tip the math in favor of doing one.

If you have this Amex Offer on more than one household card and your stay(s) will cost $600 or more, you can ask the hotel to split the payment across two or more cards to earn more than one statement credit.

Even if you’re booking Hyatt Regency award stays, you can still redeem this Amex Offer if you have $300+ of charges to your room for things like meals, parking, pet fees, spa treatments, etc.

If you can find a Hyatt Regency property that sells Hyatt gift cards, buying a $300 physical gift card from a front desk should also work to lock in the statement credit. Just be sure that it is a physical gift card though; years ago there was a different Hyatt Regency Amex Offer and I bought a gift card from the Hyatt Regency in Cleveland. They ended up sending me an eGift card; payment for those is processed by Buyatab and so it didn’t trigger the Amex Offer.

If I book a hotel through say FHR using the pay at hotel option, would this still trigger as instore / at front-desk spend?

Andrew James

I am staying at A Hyatt Regency at the end of December using FNCs. Could I call the hotel and have them charge $300 to my card in advance to trigger the credit? It would be great to have $300 to use there during my stay for drinks and food.

Andrew James

I will actually be near the hotel for work before the offer expires, so maybe I’ll stop by and see if I can buy a physical gift card.

any reports on which properties sell physical gift cards?
